That's what happens when you hire a man hating SJW ad firm that is disconnected from the the rest of the world.

Same thing with pro sports and just about everything.

These kids in advertising and media are so insulated from the real world, they have no idea what it like in the wild.

Their perception of the world is through social media.

Same here. I’m not a big vote-with-my-wallet type of person, but that ad truly offended me. I’ll never buy another of their products ever.

Stupid liberals. It is too late. The genie is out of the bottle. Look at MLB and NBA. They shoved their marxist organization down fans throats. Their ratings are tanking when ALL fans are at home and ALL could watch. Only marxist loving people are watching these American hating athletes.

who could have ever foreseen a marketing strategy of pissing off and insulting 99.9% or your customers, would be bad for business

The most obvious rubric of basic marketing—and you would think this is something they would already have known before the debacle, so the fact they didn’t tells us a lot about the brain freeze at the corporate level—is that if you have a defined target market for your product, the best strategy for upping sales isn’t to crap all over that market by telling them they are responsible for all social ills of society, but that here, use our product, and while you’re using it, think about how much better you can be as a human being, you piece of sh*t.

Would be like Tampax coming out and choosing a side on Abortion, would alienate a large portion of their custer base either way they choose. Tampax may have an opinion on it, but they don't vocalize it.

If they want to pull a real 180 and win me back, they need to change the name Gillete to Aunt Jemimah shave company.

Seriously, you do not know how this works. The DS can make or break a company but infusions of cash or undercutting competitors. These companies were given advantage but at the price of indebtedness. Soros and the Rothschilds can destroy countries. Companies are childs play to them.

If you think I am wrong then explain why so many companies would purposely piss off much of their companies customers. You get a favor and one day it must be repaid.

Threw away my gillette razor at the time of the ad. Doubt I'll ever buy again.

Just bought a Bulldog razor. Seems ok. Blade is made in US from imported steel. Bamboo handle is made in China unfortunately. Other part is made in Mexico.

Frankly. More often than not, I don't expect much in terms of overall market effects when stuff like this happens.

But this was the perfect storm of stupid.

I'd bet my house this hit their bottom line based entirely on the reactions I spelled out.

No one is arguing there was no financial fallout from the campaign, but the folks running around thinking a good ol' fashion boycott did $8B worth of damage to the Gillette brand are akin to the people crying that Fedex doesn't pay income tax: They don't know how to interpret what they read.

It's not surprising that intangibles created in 2005 when Gillette came under the P&G umbrella would be susceptible to impairment considering how different the market looks today given the success of early 2010s, lower costs entrants. Again, you can go back several quarters before this campaign kicked off and see the warnings.

But, I guess unsubstantiated claims are OK here if they go with a certain narrative.

No thanks. I love my son, and Gillette supports messaging that bullies boys to depression and suicide. If Gillette wants boys to die, Gillette can go bankrupt.

Gillette must now want boys to become men, but soy-boys want them to become women and house husbands.
