Amy Barrett would be a bad SCOTUS pick.

Let me start this off by saying that I am a devout Catholic and I think it would be cool to have her on the Court for that reason. But you guys have to understand something, Amy Barrett has only been on the appellate bench for a couple of months. We have no idea how conservative she will actually be. For all we know she should be another Souter. And the thing about Catholicism is that while yes it's socially conservative, it's very economically liberal and liberal on immigration. Sure you have your Scalias out there but how sure can we be that Barrett will be another Scalia? As much as this board loves to hate the Blessed Father Papa Francisco, I have a hard time seeing why in the world you would put so much faith in Amy Barrett. The truth is, we have no idea how conservative she really will be on a lot of issues when the chips are down. Do you want to bet the future of the country on her being a female Scalia? You'd be dumb to make that bet.

I agree. Everyone is worried about overturning past ruling, when I’m my opinion, the next huge social issue to be ruled on is the 2A and the scope of Heller. All these “assault weapon” bans and such. Kavanaugh has already written a dissent from the appellate bench on this exact issue saying that it is illegal under the 2A.

Amy Barrett has written less than 10 opinions while on the bench, and they were all on issues no gives a frick about.

I don’t give a frick about Roe or even Obergefell. I do care about the future case concerning gun rights.

And Kethledge is more individualist on the Second Amendment than Kavanaugh.

Kethledge is the best choice, clearly.

Yep. And add the emotional elements of a females inherent nature and she could be very easily swayed in emotional matters.

Put Bill Pryor on. That will settle it. I think that he has a proven track record.

She does have the crazy eye good in the bed look . If when trump picks a women for Supreme Court it should be the Georgia judge Britt something. I could see Thomas quit next summer and slide in the peach as a replacement

She clerked for Scalia. She learned from the master.

I actually hate the idea of a social conservative on the court. She's a judicial conservative. There's a gigantic difference

My only concern is that Murkowski, Snowe, McCain, Lindsey, etc will defect and there won't be enough offsetting defections from Casey, Heitkamp, Manchin, etc. That would result in the nomination being rejected.

As far as rulings, Barrett would be on the court for decades. We can't even imagine the issues they'll be deciding 25 years from now...no matter how you feel about Obergefell or Hobby Lobby or NIFLA v Becerra, nobody seriously anticipated that Kennedy would be voting on those issue in the 2010s.

Gun ownership has become the most over- emphasized issue I’ve ever seen. It seems weird to me.

I hope she's appointed so you Trump voters get what you actually want. She will overturn Roe v. Wade and you will pay at the polls.

So to win elections, you want to punish your own side?

Your own statement proves how illogical and emotionally unstable Trump has made you. Sure, punish your own side for decades so you can win a single election cycle.

You truly are an unhinged clown.

From your own post, you have to realize this....she has many kids, so she wont like abortion.
She is devout Catholic , so she has a strong Catholic man in her life. We dont take on this particular pope's dumb stances, and cant wait till hes gone. Hes not indicative of the mass and our beliefs thru and thru.
We as Catholics dont feel the need to adjust to the flavor of the day, like this pope does. It's like the constitution and a more liberal person wanting to change it...we say no, our current one got us to being #1, and should not change because of the current short term climate.
We sent dumb...whatsbdumb is thinking a woman at this point wouldnt slide right thru, brings the other choices are expected to hold her same values, but are white men.
So the dems would be almost forced to confirm here, or the next choice would be an absolute nightmare for them.
God bless her soul, but if Ginsburg goes out before the end of 2019 (which I think she will from health), this court will be so damn stacked for 30 years, Trump single handedly will have saved America, even fighting against his own party.
My feeling is that the rand paul s of the world will see this and be on board on future issues.
