Hell, throw Australia in there while we're at it. Ever heard of the Spurs' Patty Mills? That guy and his family went through HELL to get where he is today.

Nice how you edited just short of the actual quote.
You're cherry picking to be an arse. The part he said was true about whites was true. You're responding to a point that wasn't even made just to be argumentative.

Not racism, racially inflamatory. You never had a chance to see the world from a neutral point of view.

This is what I would recommend for the more privileged in society.
You make huge generalizations to assume white = privilege.

And as I pointed out, all the past abuses have led at least in part to the current imbalance. It's that specifically which the privileged white citizen should be humble about.

Yep ... you are the product of a racist environment.
Know how I can tell?
Nowhere in your explanation and description of your upbringing did you mention where your mom or dad warned you about the victim entitlement mentality modern society bestows upon you ... but it showed in your words. Nowhere did they warn you about Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or any of the other extortion experts operating under the guise of civil rights leaders. Nowhere did you mention that your parents told you to do what's right, work hard and everything will be good ... instead they told you there are caveats and conditions for everything in life because of your color ... yet they told you none of the advantages or privleges of your color.
So yeah ... you are the product of a racist environment.

It's kind of like saying blacks are more prone to violence. You're doing individuals a huge disservice.

quote:I just don't know what this means. Of course every individual should try as hard as they can. Similarly, every individual should be as objective as possible - and, objectively, a good portion of current white wealth was built off of programs and assets which were explicitly kept from blacks (and/or directly stolen from them.) Are we really saying it's a controversial claim that the compounding of money over time matters?

Your judging individuals on abroad social statement. It's wrong. Don't do it. Show me how to tap into this "White wealth"
See, I grew up poor. Like many did in the South. No generational wealth in sight

Non-natives? I'm talking about a country whose government created laws to discriminate against its own citizens. There's not many of those in modern times outside the US and South Africa. Rwanda, Serbia, Nigeria, etc were wars. Yes they were ethnic but that's not the same thing. I agree that Zimbabwe was worse than the US. Score one for us.

The caste system in India? Nazi Germany's racial definitions of what it meant to be an Aryan (and, conversely, severe restrictions on Jews - using racial, not religious definitions, by the way)?
Great Britain and the Irish?
And I don't even want to start in with on what happened in Central and South America based on Spanish (good) vs Indian (bad) ancestry - that remains to this day in many places, if only informally.
But please continue to think the absolute worst about your own country (the greatest experiment in freedom, democracy and prosperity in the history of humanity, by the way).

Ok a handful of 3rd world countries and a couple 19th century first world countries are as bad or worse.
Btw England spread racism around the world to its colonies including the US and India among others. No surprise there.
