Passed with a vote of 25-6. It now heads to Governor Ivey’s desk to be signed.

quote:

After several hours of contentious debate, the Alabama Senate tonight voted 25-6 to pass what many say will be the strictest abortion ban in the nation. The controversial abortion bill all but bans the procedure in the state. The bill would make it abortion a felony in Alabama, setting up what could be the country’s strictest anti-abortion law.

AL.com

This law is designed to be challenged in the courts with the hope that it will make it to the Supreme Court of the United States and that the Supremes will overturn Roe v. Wade (and Planned Parenthood v. Casey). The law is, without question, unconstitutional under current Supreme Court case law.

The hope of making it to SCOTUS is likely one of the reasons that there are not exceptions for rape and incest.

This is like the left trying to ban guns and water down the 2A. It’s stupid and should be struck down.

Blanket bans on abortion are something that should not be supported. And I lean pro life.

I didn't know abortion was specifically stated in the bill of rights.

If you truly believe the fetus is a human being worthy of the right to life as protected by our laws, you have to support a blanket ban on abortion. Why should one fetus have a right but not another fetus?

That's like saying people from Arkansas don't deserve gun rights, but people from Louisiana do.

If a 1 minute old fertilized egg is Arkansas and a 40 week old fetus is Louisiana, then I would contend that Louisiana deserves guns rights more than Arkansas.

If it makes it to the Supreme Court there is a very good chance Roe v Wade gets overturned. Even Ruth Bader Ginsburg has said that it was a poorly argued/decided case. I think this country might legitimately descend into civil war if it happened, for some reason abortion is the holy grail of rights to liberals.

The fear mongering over the overturning of Roe v Wade is retarded. It's not going to make abortion illegal. It's going to leave it up to the states which is how it should be decided. Let the northeast and west coast states allow abortions. Other states can make it illegal. You can go to another state to kill your unborn child.

That sounds a lot like "I didn't know ARs are specifically stated in the Bill of Rights."

Id love to hear abortion apologists debate the reasons why it should be legal besides the lie of "woman's choice".

Choice to what dumb fricks? Kill. That is right. And how do yall finagle out of that one? Y'all say it isn't a real human. Oh lawd we get to the meat of it all.

There is no god and there is no sin. So it becomes about convenience; it has always been about convenience. Always.

I don't even want to start at ARs. I'm just illustrating how stupid your point was.

Does it matter. What's Alabama's veto override law? It was passed 25 to fricking 6.
