Guy I know was going with his wife to a large conference. Naturally the conference was cancelled.

Hotel and rental car not a problem. Allowed no penalty cancellations.

Airline pulled the "ticket not refundable" routine.

Where is the 'gubmint' now?

He should tell the airline reservations person he will take the flight and be sure he is carrying corona virus with him. Bet they change refund policy in his case.

Well if he paid for a discounted ticket chances are it's non refundable but should be good for a whole year.

Must have been spirit. Which in that case, you get what you pay for

The major airlines have said they’ll refund everything even if it says non refundable

What do you mean routine? Non-refundable tickets are a normal thing

Sorry but I don't see your point

every time you buy a ticket you have the option to pay for ticket insurance which is dirt cheap

Airlines are losing money like crazy. I thought conservatives valued big businesses staying in business?

Eh, part of my wife’s job is to arrange flights from time to time for execs.

She got a guy a round trip 1st class ticket from MSY to Minneapolis and back to Shreveport for $740.

That’s normally gonna be three times that.

They’re allowing changes without cancellation penalty. They aren’t refunding.

They can use 100% of the travel funds for a new trip in the next 12 months.
