AED's in all Louisiana Schools and Most Police Forces

So there's this huge push to put these automated external defibs in all public institutions. Local news stations are citing Damar Hamlin as the reason and praising Cleo Fields for sponsoring this bill for all schools, and now police stations are about to have mandatory requirements. That's all and good, but WHY is no one questioning the root cause/reason for this sudden necessity? Just treat the symptom because there's no money in the root of the problem I guess. Political nightmare for the Left maybe? Just don't understand after 50 years of this being a rare thing, now it requires electronic expensive devices.

I see where you’re going with this, but they’ve been trying to push this long before covid was ever a thing. There are older people who work at schools and in the police forces, and they also need these for athletics.

kids always had heart attacks, what are you talking about?

Exactly. And the local news stations are 1 upping heart attacks by saying it's needed for actual cardiac arrest in kids. Wow. No mention of "why" this is happening, let's just flood the schools and every police car with these to bring someone back to life after technically flatlining.

100% for this initiative
Shouldn’t be an issue of funding or anything along those lines
Hopefully you’ll never have to use it but it just may save someone’s life

They probably would have used one on Hank Gathers, but that would have only bought him a little more time.

What's your percentage for actually trying to figure out the root cause? 50%?

I wasn’t really referring to it being needed for fallout from the covid vaccine.
I just think they should be available wherever there are a lot of people gathered in terms of public health and safety.

we've had them in Terrebonne Parish schools and gyms for at least 8-10 years now.

Most public locations in Arkansas including, Churches, Schools, and public buildings have had one for almost a decade. Heaven forbid we prepare for the worse case scenario even if the worst case scenario isn't going to happen.

hell, I had to take a class on concussions and CPR back somewhere around 2015 or so just to be able to coach rec ball. And every field and Gym had at least one AED back then.

We’ve had AEDs in school for a while now. This is nothing new.

I suppose those are also made in China.
Wuhan Lab was a great investment for China. What a return on investment. Will it ever end.

This was a push way before covid or the vaccines. There is no logical reason to oppose it.

Student had a heart attack during class when I was in college 20 years ago. Had afib or some condition.
Another student was a lifeguard and did cpr until the emts got there.
Would want a defibrillator in any place with hundreds/thousands of people. Like a fire extinguisher. Just better to have it at the cajundome, etc.
But yeh, to your point it would be effed up if they're trying to normalize myocarditis in kids.

Certainly there is no kickback scheme in this. Cleo has been caught on camera taking money from Gov Edwin Edwards and nothing happened to him

Pads have to be replaced every couple years currently around $100 and batteries about every four yrs which are currently $200-400. I can guarantee you these prices will double when it’s mandated to have them. Going to be great for the AED salesman and companies.

I thought we had AEDs in all schools and police cars already. shite. Wasnt that a huge thing about 10-15 years ago?

This has been pushed in sports for a long time. But ever since 2021 the need for them has increased.
