I did not pay much attention to politics so it took me longer or perhaps it was just the confluence of Trump getting elected but, for everyone younger I hope you now understand this:

The federal government cannot and must not be trusted. The are proven liars and have been for some time. They (Congress included) will lie and cheat to their benefit every chance they get to get, create and hold on to power,

The government is not here to help you. It is here to do everything to diminish your freedom and control you.

TRUTH. I don’t know if the tide can be turned without a major upheaval. I worry for my children.

I think it’s not as complicated. People are inherently selfish. Politicians just want a job so they will lie to keep their jobs. In some cases they will drop to their knees (cough..Vp).

Understand this simple rule.
They need us, we do not need them.

Straight up correct. It’s just like HR depts in the company someone works for. They are absolutely not to be trusted and they are not there for the employee. HR depts like the government are there for one reason and that is to protect the machine. They care not about the employees / citizens. Oh both entities will say all of the right things but when you get to the core of their function it is the machine they protect not the individual. Employees and citizens are tools to gain power and wealth. HR depts and government are not there to help and when given the proper chance they will use their power to show that you as an individual have no say. You are ok by their standards as long as you follow their rules. Don’t fall in line and they will show you their power. How many examples have we seen of that in just the last two years?

Exactly.

The government creates the problem and then offers the solution. Just like Big Pharma.

Just remember.

They think your money is their money.

But

They don't spend it like it's their money.

They maintain power with these perpetual lies:

Racism
Abortion
Climate change
LGBTQ….
Wars on foreign soil
Crime
Infrastructure

Both sides are equally guilty of being stupid enough to listen to them.

ETA: I’m a GenX by 10 months (10/65). It’s remarkable how I have absolutely nothing in common with the Boomer generation. They got to live their lives in a protected bubble while they controlled politics for 50 years making an absolute mess of this country. The majority of Political leadership in DC are still Boomers as they reach their 80’s.

A lot of the youth could care less about Systematic, Government "freedom", d. They prefer a guaranteed subsidization that 'frees' them from the personal responsibility of securing their own needs and desires.

It is an instinct for loving parents to shower their beloved children with much and protect them from hardship. Discipline to do hard work at the fore. They children are 'programmed' for life with and underlying psyche that bids them to get what they want without having to pay for it. That is where we are.

You might enjoy reading "The Fourth Turning". This cultural/sociological phenomenon is the historical norm, and can and will be painful.

No doubt. It always gets me that they fly around in private jets, ride the roads in limos, eat extravagant 5 star meals and then try to talk to us about hard times.

I mean seriously, what the frick do those bastards know about hard times? They're living like rock stars on our dime and it's sickening

It's worse than that. I had an eye opening IRL conversation with a communist woman who immigrated from Belgium. She was convinced that individuals are too selfish to decide what they do with their money. The govt makes wiser decisions that benefit everyone.

So, people should be allowed to keep a necessary amount for food, clothing, shelter, a car, and other essentials. The govt should get the rest through taxes so they can pay for programs that benefit everyone.

And, yes, she said that govt should set salary levels according to the importance of your job.
