Is it safe to assume that U.S. government intelligence forces have secret technology that is currently weaponize? Not necessarily the forces of nature being secret, just secrets in terms of harnessing those forces of nature and weaponizing them for war?

I ask this because in an 1997 DoD News Briefing: Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen mentioned the use of electromagnetic waves to set off earthquakes.

quote:

Others are engaging even in an eco- type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes, remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves.

NK has been pretty quiet since the earthquake that killed 200 at their under ground nuclear test site.

I know the consensus says the earthquake was caused by the nuclear test however I just find the possibility that the DoD has the technology to induce earthquakes and the possibly of using it in this case intriguing.

Thoughts?

It wasn't an earthquake, just a cave in.

This. They've been testing nuclear weapons underground. They probably shoddily built their testing facility, so after one too many detonations, it finally collapsed.

I am keeping my thoughts to myself on this one. Upvote to op for the links. Will check them out now.

i watched a demonstration several years ago, using a common ultra-sound machine that is found in all hospitals, that showed how ultrasound technology could be used to set off earthquakes....tesla was a big proponent of electro-magnetic technology to actually control the weather...can they do it? probably or at least maybe with the probability of having the knowledge of how to do it

In 1935 at his annual birthday party/press meeting a 79-year-old Tesla related a story where he claimed a version of his mechanical oscillator caused extreme vibrations in structures and even an earthquake in downtown New York City.[4] Reporter John J. O'Neill's biography of Nikola Tesla includes a version of this story (date of the telling not given).[3]

One version of the story has Tesla experimenting with a small version of his mechanical oscillator at his laboratory on 46 East Houston Street near the Manhattan neighborhood of SoHo. Tesla said the oscillator was around 7 inches (18 cm) long, and weighing one or two pounds; something "you could put in your overcoat pocket". At one point while experimenting with the oscillator, he alleged it generated a resonance in several buildings causing complaints to the police. As the speed grew he said that the machine oscillated at the resonance frequency of his own building and, belatedly realizing the danger, he was forced to use a sledge hammer to terminate the experiment, just as the police arrived.[5] Other versions have Tesla smashing the device before the police arrive and have multi-ton equipment in the basement moving around. Another version has Tesla clamping an oscillator to a building under construction and causing it to vibrate so violently the steelworkers working on it left the building in a panic.[6]

At the 1935 party Tesla also claimed the mechanical oscillator could destroy the Empire State Building with "Five pounds of air pressure" if attached on a girder and that he expected to earn $100 million from the oscillator within two years.[4]

There is so much info out there already on this stuff it is pretty crazy it is still a supposed "secret." The satellite based weapons were put in place when Reagan took office.

you have to be completely stupid to think electromagnetic waves of any strength humans could generate could move or affect tectonic plates and the crust of the Earth.

LSU has an outstanding Physics Department. You should share this post with them. I promise they won't laugh you out of the building. Promise, that is.

Think about the engineering quality required to construct a facility that can withstand multiple nuclear explosions.

Then imagine NORKS doing it.

Now, Japanese, South Korean or even Chinese? Sure. But North Koreans? Even with Iranian help, this program was certain to have these kinds of setbacks.

When they started this program up, we should have just given them a nuclear weapon ... the hard way.

From wiki:

quote:

Roger Clark, lecturer in geophysics at Leeds University said in the respected journal Nature in 1996, responding to a newspaper report that there had been two secret Soviet programs, "Mercury" and "Volcano", aimed at developing a "tectonic weapon" that could set off earthquakes from great distance by manipulating electromagnetism, said "We don't think it is impossible, or wrong, but past experience suggests it is very unlikely". According to Nature these programs had been "unofficially known to Western geophysicists for several years". According to the story the Mercury program began in 1987, three tests were conducted in Kyrgyzstan, and Volcano's last test occurred in 1992.[2]

Tectonic weapon

Note: this is not meant to be a conspiracy thread. It's just a thread to visit a topic I find interesting and I'm just bouncing the idea of weaponized earthquakes off the poli board posters.

This is a great example of the control measures put in place to keep the population dumbed down.

Apparently the Soviets had the same problem at some of their test sites.

Yeah, pretty sure that I read an article, just a few weeks ago, that the mountain was showing visible signs of starting to collapse.

What are the chances that any of those in the tunnel were scientists? Just regular workers I am assuming.

Its exactly the opposite. You do realize everytime you turn on an electrical device you generate electromagnetic waves. so now why dont you investigate the size of the requirements to move diffuse magnetic particles in the crust of the Earth as well as overcoming the pressures involved with tectonic subduction zones and let us all know the size of the device needed to generate an electromagnetic field large enough to move it one centimeter.

Ill wait

I guess this is possible. A small amplitude frequency can grow as long as the frequency is aligned with the natural frequency of the body it is attached to.

I think this is right. It's been 20+ years since I've studied vibrations.
