A word of caution to Pro Lifers
I realize that some of you are religious or at the least have sympathy for the unborn. For what it's worth, I'm anti-abortion.

But beware, even if some states ban the practice, it wont solve the economic woes of the state. And the demographic you are trying to target will still behave the same way.

The reason is simple: banning abortion is not a ban on welfare programs. We gain nothing as individuals save the fact that more people get to live (a great thing). So if you're doing this for the moral good, God Bless you.

Myth vs Facts about Welfare

quote:

federal government provides the funding for these programs. The states administer the programs. Some provide additional funds.

Often Congress reduces funds for these programs. If it does it without lowering the states' responsibilities, that creates an unfunded mandate. For example, the 1998 reduction in federal food stamp administration costs added $5 million to state budgets.

Never confuse welfare programs with entitlement programs. Welfare programs are based on a family's income. To qualify, their income must be below an income based on the federal poverty level. Entitlement programs base eligibility upon prior contributions from payroll taxes. The four major U.S. entitlement programs are Social Security, Medicare, unemployment insurance, and worker’s compensation.

You should have aborted your strawman.

I’ve never heard of anyone claiming this.

What? banning abortion is about stopping murder. It has nothing to do with religion. It has nothing to do with fixing economic woes of the state and it isn't targeted and ANY demographic?

What the hell am I missing here?

Oh shit, for real? My pro-life stance was purely financial. Now that you've corrected the record, I'm cool with abortion. Thank you for the info.

Who the hell ever says this?

I've never heard a pro-lifer claim to be anti-abortion. There are several variations for the use of the word abortion.

Life is a pretty constant argument.

So your cautious word is to tell me that erring on the side of life over destruction is a bad thing and could have adverse economic consequences?

If the economic consequences are the determiner of one's worth and ending life is the solution to solve the economic issues of any given State, shouldn't the end result of this thesis be to just kill all of the non contributors that suck off of the economic system?

Hopefully this highlights how pitiful your argument is.

How about this...you can get an abortion, but you get sterilized when you get it done.

If we were looking to save economic woes , then we would want abortions.

Baby steps, no pun intended. We quit killing the innocent and next we start letting otherwise healthy people too lazy to work starve to death. I'd rather feed and support orphaned children than the evil women that abort them or other adults too lazy to sustain themselves and continue down the generational welfare path we're on.

Economics are a separate issue to deal with. You can’t support the killing of humans in an effort to improve the economy. We could easily justify killing a lot of people who are on welfare today as a means to alleviate economic woes but that would be immoral, too.
