A foreign superpower is waging disinformation warfare against the United States pitting two political sides against each and the best response we come up with is a lawsuit for which there is no enforcement mechanism and we have no hope of ever trying the accused on american soil?

Just imagine what the american response would be if the situation was reversed with Russia indicting our officers.

It would be like this.

And that's Russia's response too.

The end game of a counter intelligence operation is not judicial resolutions in courtrooms. It's towards retaliatory actions in sanctions, more espionage, arming enemies of the foe, and harassing their allies. And good thing Donald Trump has been doing just that.

But anyway, congrats to Bob Mueller and Rod Rosenstein for setting precedent and letting other countries know that it's now fair game to indict our own american officers for suspicion of doing the same that we're accusing Russia of.

At this point no one trust the DOJ and FBI. Comey, Rosenstein and Mueller have badly tarnished those institutions.

You think this is the first time we have brought those sorts of charges?

TFW you want war but have to settle for unprosecutable indictments.

Same thing will happen then. Our guys will never show up to be arraigned, much less tried.

In short, it’s all a ridiculous dog-and-pony show.

Furthermore, putting a federal prosecutor or even your average run of the mill government lawyer in charge of a counterintelligence operation is one of the worst ideas ever. They're only brought in when they can and/or need to try someone in federal court when there is evidence of a prosecutable crime.

Morons.

Which is precisely why we have this little thing called counterintelligence. The FBI knows it rarely results in prosecutions - it is more intelligence gathering on our side to understand what the enemy is doing. But, no, the Dems leaked it precisely to get CNN all stirred up about Russian collusion.

They’re not morons. They know EXACTLY what they’re doing.

This whole thing was designed from the outset to tie Donald Trump’s hands as much as possible. They’re not even being real subtle about it anymore.

If this is our only response.
Then there are some powerful, high up people in our IC community, that are to blame.

Their heads need to roll.

Wouldn't you agree?

Actually that helps my point even more if true as it will have the same impact.

Those countries using the indictments as toilet paper in the shithouse.

Nah, it's the response from Rosenstein and Mueller and that's all they can do, no matter how stupid it is. It's Trump that has been putting out effective responses against Russia.

This is what he's done so far as POTUS concerning Russia.

1.) Expelled more diplomats than Obama.

2.) Repteadly bombed their client state in Syria.

3.) Sold weapons and technology to Ukraine.

4.) Undercutting their oil and gas market by shipping natural gas to eastern Europe.

5.) Ripped up the Iran deal which was a boon to Russia given that Iran is their ally.

6.) Killed hundreds of Russian operatives in Syria.

My point is: Our spooks should be doing even worse to them, and should have been doing that for a long time.

Every American who is allowed to vote, should have an understanding of this.

This other stuff, is just posturing for the idiots, but since the idiots are allowed to vote, it can be effective.

Everyone would know it was political. That’s not to say there isn’t legitimacy to these indictments. But on its face it’s a political show and if the situations were reversed that’s how we would see it.

They already are.

What makes you think they aren't when Trump is doing as I listed above?

You mean you want the IC and government prosecutors to defacto tag a political candidate as a Russian stooge based on a flimsy bullshite dossier that even the CNN, MSNBC and the New York Times didn't think was fit and credible to print and broadcast in the first place?

You know that reminds me of something.

Before Mueller was appointed, I can remember how democrats screaming for a special counsel was nakedly partisan and political and was rightly rejected as such.

But then Rosenstein had to go and lose his marbles and cuck out after Trump fired Comey despite there still being not one shred of evidence of a crime implicating the Trump campaign/admin.
