Did you know Guevara turned into a Marxist because of a New Orleans based company?

quote:

On 7 July 1953, Guevara set out again, this time to Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador. On 10 December 1953, before leaving for Guatemala, Guevara sent an update to his Aunt Beatriz from San José, Costa Rica. In the letter Guevara speaks of traversing the dominion of the United Fruit Company, a journey which convinced him that the Company's capitalist system was a terrible one.[53] This affirmed indignation carried the more aggressive tone he adopted in order to frighten his more conservative relatives, and ends with Guevara swearing on an image of the then recently deceased Joseph Stalin, not to rest until these "octopuses have been vanquished".[54]

quote:

Zemurray moved the company's headquarters to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was based. United Fruit went on to prosper under Zemurray's management;[7][8] Zemurray resigned as president of the company in 1951.

And that murderer who made life hell for millions has been portrayed as a hero in the indoctrination centers/schools, so idiot millennials wear him on t-shirts.

I knew United Fruit moved to NOLA. In 69 with a high school tour group, we were shown the massive United Fruit Company docks..

Also interestingly, the majority, I believe, of the import of bananas has since moved to Mobile where our Port Authority has assembled a huge dedicated shipping operation that I also have toured about two years ago.

That’s what happens to all commies. They die by the hands of righteous and go to hell.

The cia agent who killed him took it off his wrist and kept it as a scalp.

Iirc, Zemurray was instrumental in getting the votes in Central America that were needed to create cute nation state of Israel. I’m not sure, but I believe those votes for that UN resolution were quite important.

In short, without Zemurray, Israel may not have come into existence (at least not at that time).

I have to confess, when I was in High School, and didn't know shite about Che or really who was, I bought this poster because I thought it seemed badass. Some guerilla revolutionary guy in the jungle with an AK47 and Cuban Cigar in his mouth, and thought he seemed like a cool guy.

Long story short, my Mom saw that shite in my room and ripped it off the wall and chewed into my arse. I didn't understand what the big deal was at the time, did some research into Che and Marxism and realized what an idiot I was.

Zemurray

Sam Zemurray was quit an interesting fellow....

He overthrew the Honduran Government...

quote:

Zemurray had increased the efficiency of his business through bribery and special deals with the Honduran government. But in 1910, the government of Honduras was working to reschedule their sovereign debt owed to the United Kingdom. United States Secretary of State Philander C. Knox facilitated the negotiations, which would place agents of bankers J.P. Morgan and Company in the country's customs offices to collect the taxes needed to repay the debt. Zemurray feared that the enforcement of these taxes would ruin his business, and he lobbied Knox to make the deal more favorable to him

quote:

Knox made no concessions for Zemurray, and told him not to meddle in Honduran affairs. In spite of this instruction, Zemurray devised a plan to overthrow Honduran president Miguel Dávila in order to prevent the deal. He recruited mercenary Lee Christmas, who in turn recruited a force of about 100 other mercenaries in New Orleans, including famed Jewish soldier Sam Dreben. They sailed to Honduras in a former United States Navy vessel, where they began a war to install exiled Honduran former president Manuel Bonilla, who had been living in New Orleans. Gaining rebel soldiers from the local population, the coup was successful, and Bonilla was inaugurated on February 1, 1912. He then rewarded Zemurray with very favorable tax and land concessions for Cuyamel Fruit Company.[1]

He also donated tons of money around the New Orleans area... I work at Touro, and there's many plaques on the walls there with his name on it.

quote:

Once he had earned substantial amounts of money, Zemurray was actively philanthropic. In the United States, he gave thousands of dollars to Tulane University, Radcliffe College, The Nation magazine, and to clinics and hospitals in New Orleans. In Central America, he funded hospitals, roads, infrastructure, and schools, including the Zamorano Pan-American Agricultural School.

His house was donated to Tulane and is now the president of Tulane's house..

He also funded Zemurray Park in Hammond.

I had a friend at LSU who went to a halloween party dressed as a nazi. He asked me later why some people reacted badly. The kid was a good kid but he simply didn't know, he just grabbed something that looked cool. Hard to imagine but true. So ignorance can definitely get you into trouble.

I am going to imagine a fair number of these indoctrinated "marxist" kids simply lack a true understanding of marxist history. All they see are the shortcomings of crony capitalism and oligarchism which are vast and horrific without realizing marxism is even worse.

The account of his assassination by one of the killers was interesting. He said Che cried and begged for his life like a woman. Che said 'I can be more valuable to you as a hostage for ransom.'
They said 'Uh, no' and then shot him.
