Wonder what party that will hurt!
LINK
So, if 24 million people sit out of the census, how many reps does that equal??

He predicted 6.8 million illegal immigrants will duck the count altogether, as would about half of the 8.8 million legal residents who live in a household with an illegal immigrant present. The other half, he said, will likely lie and claim the illegal immigrants are citizens, further distorting the count
So, if 24 million people sit out of the census, how many reps does that equal??

We had a citizenship question every census until 2010

I don't care what anyone says, I'm ready to start going door to door and rounding these people up gestapo style

I don't believe it. They'll just lie. It's not like these criminal aliens have impressive honesty skills!

We should make it a felony. That'll fix it.
Posted on 3/31/18 at 12:50 pm to Dale51
Isn't it like one house rep for every 750k citizens?
Posted on 3/31/18 at 12:54 pm to Jjdoc
Not sure. One thing I am sure about is that the question will not alter the numbers at all. They.Will.Lie. It's what they do. Its how they rationalize having a right to be here in the first place.

I'm sure, depending on the question, you'd lie as well.
"Mr. Dale, how many guns do you own?"
"Are they all kept at your primary residence?"

What are you comparing? One..the census question..exists in the real world, the other doesn't exist at all.

I must have missed the last gun census.
Your example is awful and so is your knack for coming up with terrible arguments that make no sense.

How do you duck the census? Back in like 2008 (whenever last census was?) I was in college and had that envelope mailed to me. Naturally, as a millennial I threw it away as I was living in a house with 2 other roommates.
We had a government women harassing us daily in person to complete it. Is it against the law or can you be fined if you don't complete it?

I just answered my own question with google:
If you refuse to give out the information or you deliberately give inaccurate information, you can be in legal trouble. According to United States Code, Title 13 (Census), Chapter 7 (Offenses and Penalties), SubChapter II, if you're over 18 and refuse to answer all or part of the Census, you can be fined up to $100. If you give false answers, you're subject to a fine of up to $500. If you offer suggestions or information with the "intent to cause inaccurate enumeration of population," you are subject to a fine of up to $1,000, up to a year in prison, or both. Here's the official verbiage:
221. Refusal or neglect to answer questions; false answers
(a) Whoever, being over eighteen years of age, refuses or willfully neglects, when requested by the Secretary, or by any other authorized officer or employee of the Department of Commerce or bureau or agency thereof acting under the instructions of the Secretary or authorized officer, to answer, to the best of his knowledge, any of the questions on any schedule submitted to him in connection with any census or survey provided for by subchapters I, II, IV, and V of chapter 5 of this title, applying to himself or to the family to which he belongs or is related, or to the farm or farms of which he or his family is the occupant, shall be fined not more than $100.
(b) Whoever, when answering questions described in subsection (a) of this section, and under the conditions or circumstances described in such subsection, willfully gives any answer that is false, shall be fined not more than $500.
(c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this title, no person shall be compelled to disclose information relative to his religious beliefs or to membership in a religious body. Sec. 222. Giving suggestions or information with intent to cause inaccurate enumeration of population Whoever, either directly or indirectly, offers or renders to any officer or employee of the Department of Commerce or bureau or agency thereof engaged in making an enumeration of population under subchapter II, IV, or V of chapter 5 of this title, any suggestion, advice, information or assistance of any kind, with the intent or purpose of causing an inaccurate enumeration of population to be made, shall be fined not more than $1,000 or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
In practice, no one has been prosecuted for not filling out the census since 1970, according to a 2014 Politifact article.

The census is a law. The only requirement in the Constitution is to answer the number of people living at the residence.

24 million/750k = 32
32 reps

Why would the census ask me about my legally purchased personal property? I can understand the citizenship question as it pertains to legality...but not them mucking about in my law-abiding private life.

If that's true, then it comes out to be about 30 representatives. I am on board with anything that will reduce the number of politicians in DC. Especially those coming from districts that represent a high number of illegals. I'm talking about you CA.

I thought the only question you were required to answer was the number of people in your household. That's all I ever told them.

So dems can lose up to 32 seats
