No disrespect to Matt, but the fact that he was a major contributor for us is a testament to how bad we truly were that year

how would anyone say, "Damn, that's guy's a SEC type player. We have to have him," and offer him a scholarship is beyond me.

He got a new girlfriend. Not lying. She goes to LSU

I remember having it out on the recruiting board with a few of his ponchatoula and country day buddies. They claimed he was an LSU/SEC caliber player because he scored 40 pts in an AAU game playing against Kenny boynton

I thought he had the ability to develop into an SEC starter with his length, shooting, and reasonable quickness. I don't fault Trent for that offer even though it didn't work out.
I just checked and Rivals had him as a 4 start, #17 at his position in the nation! It was not a big stretch to offer this kid.

True, everyone seems to forget that

Tulane doesn't have an open scholarship for him.
Thankfully, because I'm sure Conroy would give him one.

He was shooting pretty well from behind the arc for Dayton, but wasnt seeing a lot of playing time and was basically being used as a spot up shooter off the bench. Still, might as well suck it up and stay there rather than sit out another year.

Would be a good fit at South Alabama

Yea, not too many teams are going to use a scholarship on a guy who has to sit out and will only be abled to play 1 season.
