How I Met Your Mother: Season 9 Storyline SPOILERS
Posted on 5/14/13 at 1:54 pm

As I speculated in the other thread, the ENTIRE Season 9 will take place during the 56 hours leading up to the wedding, then the actual wedding itself, and then the aftermath of the wedding.
It also appears that, interspersed with that, we will get to know the Mother in depth. The speculation is that many episodes will be flashback episodes showing the Mother's reactions to events that Ted also experienced, including many of their close calls. This will also give some of the actors from the original cast less work and more time to pursue other things.
They have to be giving her some significant time because she left the Broadway version of Once to get on the show.

"Our ninth season will tell the epic story of the longest wedding weekend ever," shares executive producer and co-creator Carter Bays. "We hope you like it. Next stop, Farhampton."

"It was a pretty big umbrella to fill, casting the title role in a series that's been on the air for eight years,” says Bays. "We're thrilled to welcome [Milioti] to the 'How I Met Your Mother' family, and look forward to getting to know her -- and the character she plays -- much better in the coming final season."

As soon as i saw the "56 hours until the wedding" at the bottom, i knew thats what it would be

I like that they are doing the close calls.
Showing the mother without really getting to know her would kinda suck as a viewer. We neet to get attached to her as an audience if she is supposed to marry our favorite monday night vagina, Ted.

I read this as: It will give Joss Whedon more time to use Maria Hill in the upcoming SHIELD series.

Should be an interesting season. Definitely will have to be a big departure from what they have done in previous seasons as the now time frame has kinda been following real life time to focusing on a 56 hour time frame over the entire season.
It will be interesting to get to know the mother. Seeing it from her side will be interesting if that's what they do... I wonder how they are going to do that... Maybe have her walk in on Ted and the kids and then take over story telling after the midseason break and the last half of the season is her side leading up to the them both telling about the exact moment.

Ted will tell her side for her, like he has everyone else.

Unless they filmed this 8 years ago, they can't possibly do this. those "kids" are probably pushing 30 now.
unless they cgi her in there.

I wouldn't be surprised if she narrorated (sp?) a few episodes to make the audience connect with her a bit more.

This means the Marshall Lilly storyline will drag on throughout the season

Anyone else notice the writer suckage as far as continuity? In March or so Robin said she and Barney were getting married on May 25. Yet Friday, 10 a.m. was 56 hours before the wedding. So...May 26?

hopefully the close calls will distract from too much of the Marshal Lilly crap.

Well they definitely won't have to show future her as the don't show future Ted and they can just reuse the stock footage of the kids just listening like they do a lot when future Ted talks.
One thing we do know is that the kids have lines next season that were filmed long ago. So they will be in at least one episode next season, probably has nothing to do with what I said though.

Kinda meh on this, could be pretty cool or could suck. Not really sure how I feel about it yet.

Love this.

it would be cool, have her do/say the exact same thing they had Sarah Chalke do when she was "almost" their mom.

Keep in mind the part about Mother Flashbacks is pure speculation on my part. Its the only way to flesh out her character.
Posted on 5/14/13 at 2:57 pm to wildtigercat93
Didn't one episode showing future selves show that Lily and Marshall were divorced in the future?
Someone help me out here.
