Hai guiz. Just picked up FIFA 12 yesterday and I'm loving it. Last one I played was FIFA 10. I'm using Arsenal, mainly because I love their stadium

I bought that Mario guy from Manchester City and he's my ST and I moved Van Persie to RW.

Just kind of a soccer newb and if anyone has any tips or pointers I'd appreciate it. Figured this would get move replies than the gaming board. Thanks.

Sell Balotelli. Buy Hulk. Put v. Persie back at ST

Hulk is perfect for a sports video game. Just hold down sprint and shoot when applicable. He plays for FC Porto and received hsis "name" because he looks like Lou Ferrigno.

I wouldn't take van Persie off from up top. I prefer gervinho and Walcott out wide due to their speeds.

Try to play them through balls or getting them open on the wings to serve crosses into van Persie. Van Persie is great at scoring headers in this game

Watch a few tutorial videos on Youtube that guys put on there. Will give you some good tips when it comes to corners, free kicks, penalties, etc.

Penalties are tough to start out, but you eventually get used to them. I started by practicing them in the loading screen.

Stamina is crucial. I picked up an American defender (Brooks is his name, I think), and he has excellent slide and standing tackle ratings, but his stamina is only a 39.

Speed kills. Get a striker who is fast (acceleration and sprint speed) and has a good finishing rating.

If you play with a smaller team (like me, trying to get Crawley to the EPL), use season-long loans to get good young (18-19) strikers and midfielders...whichever you need...that are currently at the bottom of big team's rosters, like AC Milan and Bayern Munich. Eventually you'll build your way up to getting good guys to transfer based on your performance with the loaned guys. Jean-Cristophe Bahebeck of PSG led my scoring all the way to a semi-deep FA run, J. Paint crown, and League Two title. Your board will give you more money, and I used it to pick up Chara from the Portland Timbers.

Always leave money in the bank for scouting.

Check the free agent pool at the beginning of every transfer market for some steals. I got a 77 rated goalie for $5,000 a week, he's now worth over $5.5 million if I ever wanted to sell him.

corner kicks

Create a corner kick on the practice arena. Use it to set your guys in motion towards the goal.

Do you crosses suck or do your players not when them? If they suck you might have your cross setting on manual which makes it very very hard to have an accurate cross.

I only play with arsenal and I run the 4-2-3-1 formation, but I run the second one that keeps the wingers at actual outside mid instead of attacking mid. It also helps a lot defensively since they'll be more defense oriented than an attacking mid.

Here's my usual starting 11:

RVP
Arteta
Gervinho Walcott
Song Wilshere
Gibbs. Tv5 Mertesacker/kos Sagna

ETA: I had it all nicely layed out but it's not showing the spaces :\

Fifa 11 is much easier for a beginner since 12 has a completely different defensive system

12's defensive system is definitely harder, but better.

I agree... I hated how some players would smash the A button in 11 and their player would fly to the ball and win the tackle
