Brought the little family to Zoosiana today. Beautiful weather, but man does that zoo need help. Bare bones enclosures and failing infrastructure. Doesn't even come close to other local zoos. (Alexandria or Baton Rouge)

We go often because the little girl likes it but you have to walk without trying to break your ankle.

I for one support the monster vending machines.

Haha. Yeah and $3 bottled Cokes. Ducks looked like they were swimming in a sewage treatment facility.

We went to the Alexandria Zoo Sunday. Took our son for the first time.

Less than impressed. Half of the animals were not in their enclosures. Raccoons, turtles, squirrels, and bobcats were some of the animals on display.

Then again, I'm not much for zoos either.

That's unfortunate. Haven't gone this year, but its usually a great zoo, especially in the summer because it's really well shaded.

Now that I could see. It would be nice in the summer for that reason.

But I was disappointed at the number of exhibits under construction, or animals missing. Hell, didn't even see am explanation of why there were no wallabys/kangaroos. Nothing but Emus in that exhibit. Of the animals that were (supposedly) in their enclosures, half of them weren't visible.

The not being able to see the animals is hard to criticize. A well done enclosure will give the animals areas to "hide" or feel safe.

And at least their exhibits are under construction. Zoosiana looks like the beginning of the zombie apocalypse.
