Yamaha F70 outboard thoughts

Looking to repower a Kenner 16 from an old Yamaha 90 2 stroke to a new F70.. I chose the F70 because it has the same weight as the old 90 and anything higher (75-90) is going to add 100lbs that I fear could make the arse end squat more than it should
Anybody have any experience with these or similar sized motors (50-70)?
What dealers should I go to first or avoid (baton rouge area, but willing to drive for good service)

Checking out the Yamaha performance bulletins on their site should give you an idea of how it’ll run. LINK
You may even be able to pull some archived 90hp 2 stroke bulletins on the same hull and compare apples to apples.
That said, I went from the Yamaha 90 2 stroke to the F115 SHO, and it’s night and day. Especially jumping up on step.
Both the 90 and 115SHO are right at 3lb/hp. But yes, it is an extra 100 pounds on the transom.
I went to Gulf Coast Boats in Lafayette with no issues.
You should be able to sell that 90 fast even if you need to part it out.

Have a 17 CC G3 with a 70. Will do 32 mph. Gets on a step quick! Gets around 6 mpg. Figured twice. Once it was 7 the other time it was like 4.8 mph. I have good luck with Greenwell Springs Marine. Family company.

I completely agree, it's an amazing motor, but:
Its 35 years old, been through 3 trim systems, 2 lower casings, and now needs a lower unit rebuild
Its time... its lived a good life

Gotcha, yeah. I'd replace or look for a fresher 90 Yamaha 2 stroke. That's what I have. I see them from time to time and always want to buy a spare because it's been such a great motor. Those 90 SHOs are a beast too.
