I'm not a fan. Don't like the grip angle. That said, law enforcement contracts and use probably had a lot to do with their popularity.

Sorry, "human activated". The "human" you don't trust, by the way. It is a paradox and one I feel you will never admit or get comfortable with.

Yet, there it is...

And car wrecks are caused by operator error, but we'd never consider going without a seat belt.

Not having a safety is stupid. You're infinitely more likely to glock leg yourself while handling your loaded pistol than you are to need it for self defense in such a manner that not having a safety will be what saves your life.

Reliable and indestructible.
G-17 (9mm) double stack 16+1 and G-36 single stack (45 ACP) 6+1.
Probably 1000 rds and never misfire or jam.

Wouldn't carry any of the semi autos, I'd carry a S&W .500.

Yep. Although I do recommend people run 500 rds through them just to help with stovepiping they do if you aren't locking in correctly with a new one. They loosen up though.

My brother was telling me about some testing they did when he was a SEAL to see what pistols worked best for them. They would bury them in the surf zone. Leave them over night. Just all kinds of crap. The test was pull it out and pull the trigger, (Not with crap in the barrel obviously), most everything failed that other than the S&W Model 10 and the Glock. Some of them were just irreparably rusted up. Instant garbage. But those two worked no matter what they did to them.

Simplicity of design is art.

I love how SS boasts about their compatibility with Glock magazines.

Walther makes a pistol just as reliable and wayy more comfortable with a much better trigger.

So does Beretta.

So does S&W.

But everyone has glock mags......

I always thought so too. Thought they were generic and bland. And I’m generally tired of all-black guns. But then one day I decided I needed a 10mm. And after shopping around, the Glock fit the bill. A quality gun at the right price. And now I’m in love.

I agree the grip is chunky, but of course this is a double stack 10mm so no surprise. If I didn’t have long fingers it’d be a problem.

I have no urge to own anymore Glocks but if I love my Glock 20. If I ever had to open carry a pistol for some reason, it would be that one.

Meh, needing that many shots in a wimpy .50 cal gun. Must have girl's wrists.

I just need one shot in .50 BMG

I thought it was funny. IDK anyone who has shot themselves with any pistol…and really I’ve only seen one YouTube video of a fat guy trying to quick draw and shooting himself. He just kind of hopped around saying ‘I got myself’ or something funny.

I’m not going to cowboy quick draw like that and I wouldn’t trust myself to apex carry anything…much less my external safety free HK.

Price, easy to maintain, universally accepted, tons of mods, tons of spare parts, tons of training tools and equipment available, etc

Yeah there are “better” options but I’m not giving up my G19 and all I have for it for something marginally better.

I'm not saying its a bad thing necessarily. Just that I don't like it. I try to hate the thing but it's a pretty good gun in reality.
