Admittedly, I just don't like them, so I am biased. But I don't know why they are so popular and I would like to know if this is based on anything that I may be missing. They are big and boxy and offer nothing special, in my opinion. They seem to be the most generic handgun out there.

They are reliable. I'll give them that. But for those that have them or like them, what are the upsides to them other than simple reliability? Sell me on them.

If you are ever in a situation where you have to draw your weapon you want to make sure it goes bang.

Glocks go bang.

I'm not the hugest fan of them besides the 43x but they go bang.

I own one and am looking at a glock 19x next.

G19 was the best fit for accuracy, concealable, and fit my hands well. Shoots any ammo I put in it. What’s not to like?

If I have to use it in a dangerous situation then I will only care about these things. I’m not trying to win a beauty contest.

Most important quality in a hand gun that will probably be used as self defense...

They go bang every time and I mean every time.
Even when full of dust and working at the camp you can still smoke a hog or a snake and never wonder when it’s not going to fire.
Tons of aftermarket support (parts, holsters, mags)
I shoot them well.
I have 5 of them and will continue to buy more.

Oh, no doubt. I carry a Ruger. It's comparable on reliability. I just wanted to know if there was anything else that makes the Glocks stand out.

I never understood the appeal either until I purchased a G45 2 years ago. It’s hard to beat IMO

Today? Not much. When they first came out, plenty. Being the first gives them a lot of inertia.

They're relatively inexpensive (for what you get). Light. Some folks shoot them very well. Durable. Low maintenance. Many aftermarket accessories.

Marketing campaigns, police department kickbacks, bro culture...hype.

But in reality they are very functional and reliable, just hideous.

They are reliable, affordable, and accurate. They don't have the best triggers on the market, but they are consistent.

There is a reason Millions of law enforcement folks choose them as their duty weapons.

Glock Perfection- Preferred handgun of most Special Forces including the SEALS. They now carry the Model 19
More cops carry them worldwide than any other handgun.
They are very reliable and dependable.
They are built to last in any conditions.
They are affordable and many after market extras are available.

Cute. A lot of people switch out the parts like triggers for upgrades when other handguns come with better triggers out of the box. I
