Was thinking about drifting some oyster reefs and working some cuts/runouts in Mechant with the nice falling tide. Any suggestions?

Been hearing all good reports between Dulac and dularge. Fish are moving in. I don't think you can go wrong with that plan. With moving in and out of camps 6 times, I haven't done shite for fishing. Also, I've never caught fish in Merchant, but I suck at marsh fishing.

Went out today in Mobile Bay. Caught our limit in 3 hours this am. Vu du shrimp and live shrimp. It was a whack fest.

Where exactly in mobile bay?
Never caught much there but there has to be fish. Just don’t know where they are...

Hopedale Report: today windy high water about 1.5 feet above normal tide water lapping at the road in some low spots. No moonlight and overcast made it a slow pitch black visibility cruise down the spoil canal and Bayou Pisano at 0600 headed to Lake Coquille and Two Trees, visibility ok by 0635 managed to avoid hitting a crab trap or oyster lease pole in the dark.

Bite was slow specks almost lethargic to the strike as if they weren't hungry. Plenty of 10" white trout didn't keep but a couple. Saw a few reds along the grass early and then they disappeared. Ended up with 10 specks all 12"-14" bite quit by 1045. Not a lot of small throwbacks today.

Live shrimp and and a plastic that looks like a baby spec (H&H?) caught about even, under a cork, drop shot on bottom or free lined on a 1/4 oz jig head. Matrix Shrimp Creole and Limo Slice my go-tos had no takers today. Live shrimp size was better that it has been lately.

Hopedale Marina owner says Yakers are doing well towards the rock damn, bigger specs are around St Malo. Didn't try and should have deeper holes say 10'-15' in the bayous, stayed with shallow drains along the lakes. When the tide came it was about an hour late and ripping all morning.

Coast Guard picking up when we did, you can see how high the water is at the launch late morning. They were very professional knew their stuff.

Damn, i guess the wind blew it in? I plan on heading that way on Saturday so hopefully it returns to normal levels by then. If not, a falling tide and light north wind should have it screaming out.

Yea, persistent east winds raised the water level. Wind is coming down tomorrow and Saturday, will be better conditions with a good falling tide in the morning.

Dont plan on fishing that area, but a great report. Looks like you got a good meal to me, nothing wrong with that.

Any of y’all been fishing Vbay? I went a couple times this week and water was still a little stirred up but fishable. Caught a dozen one day and 16 the next.

I am about to try Bievenue for a little evening bass/scouting for trout trip. It looks like the locks are closed so it may be more of the former.

Scout trip this afternoon on BL. Water has cleared up but still has tannin color to it. Birds picking in turners, lightning forced me to dock with a couple trout. Plastics in opening night filled them 1/8 jig head.

Well, locks were closed so we stayed inside and managed to catch 15-20 bass with many more bites. Not too mad cause I’ll be heading down to Hopedale marina in the AM for some trout. Gonna star with top water in some ponds and eventually do a little drift fishing with anything that looks like a shrimp. I’ll let you guys know how it goes

Diving birds and popping shrimp was the pattern anywhere from mud lake to lake P. Drift into them from up wind about 100 yds. Double shad rigs were the ticket, bringing in 2 at a time. Natural sparkle colors or shades of white Matrix shad on 1/8 oz jig heads. Lots of throwbacks but plenty action to weed through to get enough keepers.

I hope this helps someone. Good luck baws!
