Which one is the right rifle for this situation?

Background:
Daughter (6 years) is showing interest in shooting and I want to encourage her by purchasing her own rifle.
The rifle will mainly be used for target but may also be deployed in hunting.
The local shop has a great deal on two Ruger Americans (compact), one in 300 BLK and the other in 7mm-08, both are $399.

Either one. I own both. 300 blackout ammo easier to find now. Get one of the ruger muzzle brakes for it. Here is link LINK
Should add if hunting was primarily the use 7-08. 300 bo more than capable with 120 grain supersonic ammo. 300 probably kicks slightly less. Coin flip but in ur shoes the 300

7mm08 if she isn't going to burn up a bunch of ammo, 300 blk if she is going to burn through ammo.

6 year old daughter wants a center fire rifle
could this be an fbi plant thread
or possibly a dad that wants another rifle but cannot get wifes permission

I started my son with a 300blk, added a suppressor and moved him to a .308 with the same suppressor. He loves to shoot, we can communicate in a stand, it was 100% the way to go for us.

My 2 youngest kids (girls) started killing deer at 6 with the Ruger American in 300 blk.
That gun has killed 3/4 of the bucks hanging in my living room.
My buddy handloads for it and it’s awesome. I’d highly recommend as the recoil is nothing.
My other advice is a field pod. They changed the game for kid hunting

.338. She’ll grow into it

Just get her a 30-30 no scope and be done with it

.300blk. It will be more fun as a target gun and is sufficient on whitetail out to 150-200 yards (depending on skill level). That with a silencer would be the best tool to teach her how to shoot centerfire stuff.

Must have gotten hacked by downshift.
Man get the 7mm-08 it’s a sure enough deer rifle and even is used by randy newberg an accomplished back country elk hunter.
Buddy of mine started his 6-7 yr olds on one and uses it all the time and they stack deer.
Now if you want to get a gun for 100-200 yards for her to use and then take it and suppres it and thermal later or just want a gun and love buying guns then buy a 300bo.

7-08 is the correct rifle for every situation in the continental US.

I shoot one but the ammo situation sucks right now. If it's close range like mentioned above maybe the 300. If you're hunting and have distances of 300 yds or so you might be wishing you went with 7-08

I'd go with a 10/22 myself. Kids just like to hear it go "pling" when they hit the target. 22s are cheap, fun, you don't have to pick up the brass, etc...

Start her with a .22 if she does not have one already. Learn the safety aspects with a gun that does not kick and easy to get ammo.

I thinking a 7mm-08 in compact rifle that will fit her will crush a 6 year old's shoulder unless you can find some reduced recoil loads (and even then it will still be stout).
For a 6 year old, I'd get a .22lr or an AR. An adjustable stock on an AR is great for a kid.
