I have a Honda self propelled that is about 6 years old. starts on the first pull every single time, because its a damn Honda. You buy me a new one and I will give you my used one.

Go to Lowe's and see if they have any that say "bad motor" in the managers special area. My last two nearly new lawnmowers were $39 each. One even has push start. Both rear wheel drive and single lever adjust.
The "bad motor" is almost always a simple keyway. Like $1 part.

avoid craigslist like the plague, its just rip offs and scams and if you reply to an ad you never get any response

facebook marketplace is the place to watch and find good deals

that new site called letgo is not very good and it also is often crashing servers and the site goes down often so few people use it

I use to have contracts with altiquip in areas that they did not service. We did a lot of homecenter work. 1% were trashed mostly due to customer abuse. 50% was trash in carbs and 49% was just missing parts where unit was never used.
We would clean the carb or order the part to fix the unit. The store would put a low price on something just to get rid of it. 9 out of 10 the unit was in great shape and good value for a customer.
