Has anyone had much success with the traps?

I’ve heard good things about thermacell for a repellent. I’m moving into a new house soon and want something to keep the bugs away from the back porch while I watch games. It’s roughlt a 17x17 patio tucked into the house between 2 rooms.

Thermacell

I’ve got the backpacker one and it last hours on one tank. Also have the portable kind and they work good also.

That’s the model I had my eye on. Does it take the same canister that you would use for a Coleman camping stove?

Made a duck hunt in an 18 ft jon boat. Pulled the boat up against a stand of Roseau cane and put a Thermacell in each end of the boat. Literally had a cloud of mosquitoes hovering above the cane and never got bit. No repellent. That made a believer out of me.

We use the Spartan system around the yard and also have it professionally fogged every 3 weeks. Very few mosquitos.

It takes the small isobutane bottles. These are smaller than the Coleman canisters you may be thinking of. They are fairly cheap and cabelas or academy has them.

Can you reuse the blue thermocell pads until they are done or once you open the pack that's it?

Sometimes I just use the lantern for and hour or so and the pad is still blue. I open a new one the next time I use it. I'd like to know if you can reuse a slightly used pad.

We have been using the Spartan system with good results. We live on the creek and our neighbors yard is a low soggy mess when it rains. I will buy it again next year.

Yes. I have done that often.

I second Spartan system. We have a swamp behind our house. I put out 4 tubes and it has really decreased the mosquitoes.

Is it only useful in wooded or areas where there is water?

I’ll have neither in my neighborhood.

I use the Spartan as well. Bought one pack (2 in a pack) put one under an eve on my workshop in the back yard. I then put the second one in the front yard hanging from a tree on the opposite side.

Works great...
