Website says its closed but the call in number says its open this weekend.

I've never been before but I would love to check it out. $6 all day for range time seems too good to be true. Is there more fee on top of that? Obviously provide your own targets, guns, ammo.

I'd love to go get on the rifle and pistol line as well as shoot some clays. Does anybody know the cost for some clay rounds?

There was a post about it last week I believe. One of our posters is a range master there.

I think he said it was close undergoing some repairs, improvements, etc.

so it closed today and they just hadn't updated the phone message I assume.

Any info from anyone on any additional costs outside of the $6 cover fee to shoot? If I can pay $6 to park at a lane for several hours and just BYO ammo, I am going to be there every weekend this fall

yes, it's only a $6 cover fee for all day and you bring your own targets, ammo, guns, eye and ear protection (they do have ear plugs if you forgot them)

they have the stands for your targets and a stapler

you can switch between rifle line and pistol line as you wish if you bring both

rifle line goes out to 100 yards

it's been more crowded lately for obvious reasons

Good to know. How's the safety there? I just get kind of squirrelly when I'm around tons of people with guns that I can't really keep an eye on. For one I'm somewhat of a newbie to this and I'm also just naturally very cautious. Just don't want to be around somewhere with a bunch of yahoos who clearly aren't paying attention.

Is there like a time limit then to rotate or is it more just a courtesy thing not hogging a lane all day once you get one?

you have different call outs from the range officers

1. fire remaining rounds
-self explanatory

2. ceasefire
-when called you are supposed to remove any magazines, either lock the bolt back or whatever way you can continuously display an empty chamber
-everyone stands behind the red line
-the range officers will then inspect every gun on the tables to make sure they are unloaded and displaying empty chambers

unless you are going set targets up, you are to stay behind the red line

3. range officer will then ask if everyone is finished and ready, everyone has to give a thumbs up

4. rifle line will then go hot and you are allowed to fire again

no time limit, i mean if you have that amount of ammo to fire all day go at it but most people don't so if you get there and there's no lane available you usually don't have to wait long

Awesome sounds very well run then. I have no problem waking up early and getting out there at sunrise or whenever it opens.

I'll save my $6 and go somewhere that doesn't have power hungry (so called range officers) talking down to people because they rather not be home listening to their wives order them around. There are plenty of NRA sponsored ranges that don't have these douche bags staring down your back. Not sure why they have to have them there.

Damn how much ammo do you have to shoot all day? Ammo ain’t cheap. I’ve gone out there and all the info provided so far is correct. I’ve never shot more than 50 rounds though. Ammos been too hard for me to come by.

I know what you’re talking about and I don’t mind it. There’s a ton of low iq dumbasses out there.

The range is 10min from my home but I choose not to go there for this reason.

Please save your $6. Yes, there are some grumpy old men sometimes, but everyone there are volunteers. Usually the only time someone is “power hungry” there is when one of the shooters is being a jackass or doing something that could visibly get someone hurt. I know, I’ve been going there for years. Most times when they’re watching you, however, is because they’re interested in what you’re shooting.

Lately, I stopped going because there are too many people and more youths that come in packs of 15 with all of them holding their AR on their shoulder. In these instances, I’m glad the range officers are around.

Yes, it’s not the best place. But for $6, there aren’t any better places.

I’ve been finding steel ammo pretty cheap. I just got the 7.62 build for exactly this reason. And maybe not all day. But a little pistol, a little rifle. I have some new rifles I have not been able to take out yet because I’ve been squirreling away ammo and also couldn’t take them to any indoor ranges. I have enough of a stockpile that I can replenish what I use relatively easily now.

Just about every little town in CenLa/NorthLa has a shooting range you just pull up and shoot for free with no "rangemaster" I can't believe people pay to go to shooting ranges.
