What's going on with LDWF and License Purchases ?
Posted by The Torch on 3/3/18 at 7:37 am04
I went on the website to buy a fishing license three weeks ago and again today, unavailable.
Went to the local store and the guy says all systems are on hold that I would need to drive to a district office.

It was my understanding that you would still be able to get one online.

Its been a cluster for a few years. They used to mail you one after your online purchase. Now you have to print deer tags. So i carry 8.5x11 pirce of paper folded in a ziploc. Dumb.

We can only hope that when they 'update' they system, they make it easier to use. You can't go on any of their websites and get an 'easy to find answer'.
The La. LDWF websites are the worse I ever tried to use.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries is currently transitioning to a new recreational hunting/fishing license sales system. To minimize impact to those who will be purchasing licenses in next few months, please see below.
If you will need to purchase a license from a retailer before April 2, we recommend that you make your purchase before January 30, 2018.
A few dates to be aware of during our transition:
January 30, 2018 – January 31, 2018 - All license sales will be temporarily down for system maintenance.
February 1 – April 1, 2018 – License sales will be available through Internet sales (pc, smart phone, mobile device and laptop) atwww.wlf.la.gov and LDWF headquarters, regional offices (Monroe, Opelousas, Lake Charles & Alexandria).
Retail locations will not sell licenses while installation of new equipment and employee training is implemented.
April 2, 2018 – Retail vendor license sales will resume.

Glad I bought a lifetime combo a little over a year ago. You get a hell of a break on the price after you turn 60.

Bought mine in 1995. Many headaches avoided and has paid for itself at least twice.

Seems I could fish and hunt for 5$ a year, has that changed? I doubt it.

I hear they are updating what you get with the license as well. Instead of buying a basic fishing, then having to buy a separate license for hoop nets or the like, the new basic will cover all legal means of taking freshwater fish. So if you just rod and reel, you’ll be paying more. If you also buying the other licenses under the old system, it will be less. All in all, they’ll be streamlining. I like the online pay feature. If you compare what we pay to hunt and fish to other states, we are cheaper by a large magnitude. Look at it this way, we shouldn’t be bitching so much about the price increases that are coming because that money goes to the outdoors we love so much.

Just bought my daughter's lifetime at 13. Felt like I was stealing for only having to pay $300 for her to hunt and fish the rest of her life. Need to buy mine soon.
You do realize all that stuff has to be approved by the legislators and the LA Sportsman article said nothing would take effect until next year anyway. I doubt they plan on not selling licenses for a year.

well if I don't make it 10 years, to break even, I guess the jokes on me...
even though the vote isn't set yet I expect to see the fees go up...
