We got word from our farmer in Cenla that we still don't have a duck on the farm. He said the geese finally got in our fields to eat some of the rice, but they haven't seen anything as far as ducks go. They have never seen it this empty this late in the year.

What is the report for everyone else around the state?

I was about to ask if anyone has heard what the bird count was this month.

Got a bunch of guys working for me from OK and they aren't seeing a whole lot either. From what I've gathered that front didn't give them the push they expected.

If Saturday sucks I may pack up a lay down blind and go after the Specks on Sunday.

Gonna be a bunch of high dollar blinds and guides scratch Saturday in Cameron Parish. I’ll put good money on it.

My farmer in cenla had 6 limits by 730 opener of second split last year. He told me right now, it would be a waste of time to hunt.

Crazy considering the birds on that place last year

I spent all day Sunday in my marsh and saw a ton of ducks. Mostly big ducks: mallards, greys, but a few groups of teal mixed in. I’m pretty optimistic for second split, but we had a pretty good first split.

Cautiously optimistic - saw a huge pile of ducks near my lease in bayou black last weekend.

Gonna have to use my Wal Mart call. Can’t afford a $150 call like you rich people.

Should be a good second split. Don’t tell the flyway federation though, I want to keep giggling at their misery.

1st split was kinda spotty for us in SWLA, went to fish in the marsh this past Thursday and jumped a couple thousand birds. We’re not far from the Sabine Refuge.
