I planted on Sunday the 18th. 5 celebrity and 6 better boys. Plants were 5” and some change when they were put in the ground. After planting I fertilized with triple 13 sprinkled 6-8” from the base, then watered for 15-20 minutes each day for the next three.
Is it possible that I over watered at first and that carried the fertilizer too close to the roots? Will they bounce back?

Planted two rows of green beans and a row of cucumbers and they are both just beginning to sprout.

Before you say it, I know I have to pick all that dead grass out of there.

Too much water. Just let nature work for a week or so.

would not have put trip 14 on a tender new plant. Easy to over fertilize.

Too much water.

Soil looks pretty compacted, maybe it's just the water.

Also, don’t water with a sprinkler. Keeping the leaves wet invites fungal problems. You want to water at the base of the plants.

Also, water deep. Shallow water encourages roots to come nearer the surface, which isn’t a good thing.

This is what I was told, at least.

Yeah, you rarely need to water this time of the year.

It’s just cosmetic though. Your new growth looks healthy. They’ll grow out of it. Just let nature run its course.

Like others have said, too much water and probably a little transplant shock. Give them a couple weeks to get settled and see how they are then.

water from a hose is garbage. if you have gutters I would set up a barrel to catch rain h2o.

Cut back on the water and add mulch. Go ahead and add some calcium now to avoid Blossom Rot.

Push a couple of aspirin in the soil about an inch or 2 from the stem. Acetylsalicylic ACID (aspirin) is good for acid loving plants like tomatoes (salicylic acid is actually a plant hormone and is the metabolite of aspirin).

Boom! 'maters on roids baw!

Yeah, too much water, but baw, next time you need to till yo shite up much better. Add peat humus when you till to fluff up that soil - that shite is going to compact like concrete pretty soon.

Yep. A real deal Mexican showed me this. This is how I water... Each row has it running down one side.

They will be fine, just look like a little too much water.

How deep did you plant them?

You probably over watered and burned them a bit with the fertilizer. I never fertilize plants right after planting. I usually wait a week or so for them to absorb the transplant "shock".

Baw, them Mexicans are full of them.

But for real, look at the dirt. It's saturated at the far end and working it's way back to the spout.
