What is the best procedure for an Academy visit

Do all Academy's get bulk ammo shipments or do you need to figure out their delivery schedule first. Or do they even Know what will be on the trucks shipments?
My nearest Academy is about an hour drive. I just don't want to arrive to find out there's nothing there.
To anyone who has done the morning waits, what is the best way to go about a trip?

Being that it’s so far away, I’d say figure out which days ammo arrives and show up before it opens and stand in line.
I haven’t tried that method for the current shortage but for Obama’s shortage I would do it once or twice a week and always got my 2 boxes or whatever it was

Why don't you just pay the extra money and order from somewhere online? Seems like that would be a better bet than driving an hour away to wait in a line to MAYBE get two boxes of ammo.

Most La and Ms stores have ammo Wednesday and Friday. 3 box limit. Still no .22L. Some 9mm and steel case .223 is what they usually have outside of hunting ammo, but they don’t usually have much of that. What area are you in?

Guy behind the gun counter up here said they get their shipments on Mon & Thu. He said there's a line forming an hour before they open.

Academy on Juban had the most ammo I've seen in months last Thursday. 9mm 40 45 380 22lr 300blk 30-30 and a lot of shotgun shells.

I was in Academy in West Monroe yesterday evening and decided to cruise the ammo selection. They had .223, 7.62x39 and 9mm. Even had some Hornady Critical Defense 9mm.

Yes, you need to figure out their delivery schedule. The employees in that department will tell you the schedule. In the Kenner/Metairie area, the days are Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday. The line forms before they open at 9 am.
If you see a line out front before they open, that's a good indication that it's a delivery day.

Jack, I live in Bossier.
Bass Pro gets restocked here on Thursday night, so be at the door for opening on Friday mornings. They usually have a good bit of ammo but usually 20-30 guys lined up waiting at opening.
Academy here in town gets restocked Monday night so Tuesdays is your morning, but academy really hasn’t gotten anything lately.

You’ll be able to get the 2 or 3 box limit of ammo if you go when they open on a shipment date but they aren’t getting 38spl

What's the typical haul there? (I assume its only the popluar calibers, like 556/9mm, maybe 45 auto, etc, right)
