I heard the price was heavily depressed last season. Any word on the 2018 season? I’ve seen more gators this year then before in Henderson. Not sure if it’s a bumper crop or lack of hunting pressure, but we have too many of these big lizards already IMO. They need to be thinned out. Hope the trappers cull the shite out of them.

I heard the kill zone is as small as a dime this year.

We aren’t hunting this year again.

That’s close to 80 tags between this year and last we will not fill.

Prices are down because every single alligator killed weighs 1,000 lbs.

I don’t care about the Landrys, I’m just tired of having gators chase my popping cork around when I’m fishing. They’re as thick in lake Mechant as they’ve ever been.

Theres so many gators in blind river you cant fish a slough without 3 or 4 chasing your bait.

I’ll never gator hunt again as long as Mississippi continues the retarded arse way of killing one.

the way i understood the issue was the farms are selling way too cheap so prices are too low for making a profit catching wild gators.

not sure the politics of it, or if there are any farms outside the USA for gators, but the farms are driving the wild caught industry into the ground as i understand it

Farm raised are more sought after by hide and meat buyers for a couple of reasons:
1) Hides are in much better shape as there's less fighting in pins vs the wild
2) farm raised meat vs wild is ten fold better

$10/ft is what I’m hearing. Not worth my time this year.
