Unless its balls hot outside, as long as you get the guts out quickly it takes a pretty good while to spoil. The deer is 90something degrees when you kill it so it has a good ways to go to get down to ambient and if it gets cool at night, it'll stay cool a while into the next day. You can't do it when the weather sucks but the last two nights would have been excellent for hanging meat.

Cannot stress enough that the guts have to come out ASAP, especially when its warm out. Ruminate guts ferment so they make heat and keep the meat hot. Gotta get then out quickly, than you're OK for quite a while.

Yea and thats what I assumed. I'm not sure what deer yield but I know in the animal world a ~65% yield of meat vs live weight is about as good as you can do. I would assume a deer is probably ~60% yield maybe?

I actually thought a deer was about 30% meat yield.

I’ve always just heard those old time sayings, a 100 lb deer will get you 30 lbs of meat. Never checked it for truth.

Meat goats are around 50% so I would say 45 is probably right. Mine yield better than that because they don't have horns.

Also, I think the no carts rule is excessive. I completely understand the no atvs rule, but a hand cart? I don’t think people will be joy riding and tearing up the ground.

Anyone do anything similar as in use frame packs, debone deer in the woods, hike in and camp to hunt?

I hunt on an island so yeah..we do all of the above. You can easily get weathered in for days or even weeks, so you gotta go prepared.

Yea I hear ya. I listened to a podcast with Kurt Racicot of Stone Glacier. He talked about doing a 9 day solo sheep hunt. Kills a sheep on day 2. They didn't come until day 14 or something to get him. He had no communication with them to know what was going on. Yikes!!!!!

The hard part is getting that fricker in the back of my truck by myself.

I have a 2 piece skinning rack that hooks in my receiver hitch. It has a hand crank winch and it swivels. Its long enough to let the tailgate down. We use it mainly in the midwest to clean deer we kill on public ground but you could use it as a loader too.

Yes i think they’re made by Allen.

Overall I’m pleased. Got them in 2017, wash them after use in washing machine and they’ve come out looking like new.

This last deer the draw string broke on one so I’ll probably need to upgrade eventually. I had been washing them with bleach, may be why the string went limp.

Last two deer I started using just two bags and it’s worked good. It came with 4 bags and I bring 3 to save space. If I killed something very big I’d probably use more than 2 bags.

I caught it on Black Friday sale for like $240.

I’ve been very pleased with it.

I’ll go camp and hunt a lot as well but lately it’s near my truck not hiking in and camping so I’m not sure what all I could carry if I needed to use it for hunting plus camping gear.

Commercially. Im sure you could build one though. Its a pretty simple set up. I actually have 2. I acquired one in a land purchase. Mine is similar to this. It doesnt have that bottom foot on it and it separates to 2 pieces for transporting with the winch and cable all on one piece and the part that goes in the hitch and makes the 90 turn up on the other
