Shot a fat nanny this morning. Dropped her at processor and marinating some tenderloins for the grill tonight.

Is that browning? Curious what kid of set up you have there because it is bad arse.

We caught a limit of wood ducks yesterday morning and made a gumbo yesterday evening with them. Drank a bit too much so I skipped this morning. Still is awesome to be back in the blind either way.

Shell Beach - poor, (as expected) duck hunts. Few grays, few teal, dosgris, bufflehead, and an accidental merganser

Yeah it’s a Browning X-Bolt Hells Canyon Long Range in .300 win mag with Leupold VX5-HD 3-15x44 and a Thunder chicken silencer. She shoots.

Stayed home this weekend. Broke down 2 does I had hanging. Made jerky and bone broth. Defrosted and organized my freezers this morning. Sharpened my broadheads and knives. Gonna be hunting 15 out of the next 20 days.

Smoke a 100lb doe opening morning Saturday in Area 4. Been feeling the pressure to put some meat in the freezer before my newborn baby arrives in 3 weeks. The wind was wrong all weekend for my other stands, so put out corn, checked cameras and hung a climber in a new spot the rest of the afternoon.

Since the pressure was off, stayed home today and knocked out a ton of honey-do’s for my prego wife. So an über productive weekend.

5 ducks. Slow day but still had fun.

BTW, I just bought myself a Supernova. Shot it for the first time doing sporting clays on Friday and hunted today. Just finished cleaning it, first time disassembling it so did my you tube thing as I typically do for a new gun. Much to my surprise, two pins and a depressed bolt and we’re field stripped and ready to clean. What a difference from my Remington 870 Express. I love people that design firearms to be easy to clean and maintain. Gun was great, too.

I see you take Downshift's ideas on howitzers to deer to heart.

Sweet rig. I'm jealous.

Been passing on bigger bucks all season but for some reason this little guy made me happy to shoot. Weighed right at 180#s.

Sat in the stand this afternoon, saw 2 does, 2 spikes, 2 8pts.

It’s not really worth putting out much corn right now. They’re walking straight over it and rice bran for acorns. Always heard they’d do that, first time ever witnessing it.

If you baws have any oak flats in your area, that’s where you need to be.

Had family over this weekend so I let them hunt as it was their first time. They didn’t get anything but I went out this afternoon and got a nice doe 12 minutes before the end of firearms season.

Used my AR in 6.5 Grendel with a Banish 30 suppressor, shooting Hornady SST rounds. Dropped her in her tracks. She is on ice and we’ll process the meat later this week. Entry wound only but there was devastating fragmentation and damage.

Hunted ducks on private land Saturday, got two wood ducks. Sunday hunted public and didn’t see a duck but plenty empty hulls from someone’s previous hunt.
