Weed and Feed Question

Probably will get some kick back for this, but fugg it....
On the bag it says to water IMMEDIATELY after putting out, however it's been wet as hell and I don't have a sprinkler so I didn't do it.
Anyone have an experience with not watering it immediately after spreading? This is the first time I've treated my yard so just wondering if I wasted my money or not

You should always follow the label directions when using insecticides, herbicides, fungicides or fertilizers. If the label says the product should be watered in, do it. It generally means the active ingredient is absorbed by the roots. Until it gets watered, it will not begin to work properly. Watering after application also washes the herbicide down below the foliage of the grass, reducing contact by people walking on the lawn. Always read the label directions carefully and follow them. Make sure you apply the weed and feed evenly and carefully follow rates. Weed and feed products are useful and may be applied now. But if you apply too much or apply it unevenly, it can hurt the grass.
For the record: copy and pasted from an old NOLA article. I assume the water in is to prevent run off and cross toxicity

I sprayed a bunch of altrazine in my backyard.
Had to spot treat lots of places with F stop. Little early for weed and feed imo. kill the weeds, stop fungus right now.

The granulated 2-4D needs moisture to stick to the leaves and the dicamba needs to be watered in, so it just won't be as effective as it's supposed to be.
Weed and feed products are typically are only recommended by the stores that sell them and the companies that make them.
Weeding and feeding are done at different times of the year so you get a half-baked result even if you follow their directions.
