I'm looking to upgrade from a charcoal grill to a gas. I've got a cheap Char Griller charcoal grill currently, that I really enjoy cooking on. Looking to switch to gas for a little more versatility. I'd like to be able to get home from work and throw some burgers or kabobs on the grill and have them done relatively quick.

My question, I guess, is what do you baws recommend? If I'm going gas, I'll probably go Weber. I've got a WSM for charcoal smoking and I love it. I'm basically trying to decide between the Genesis and the Spirit. Genesis has a slightly larger cooking area and a door for storage below the grill. Any of y'all have any recs? Pros and cons of Weber? I'd like to keep it in the $600 range.

For a gas grill, I have a Weber Spirit, about 1/2 the price of the genesis, and mine is 10 years old and doing great. I've replaced a couple of items on it for maybe $50 in 10 years, but I have it for when I want to use gas.

Weber is the answer, just how much you want to spend.

I have the Genesis in NG and love it. I have a 3 burner with the sear station and the side burner.

Weber makes great gas grills. If it was me, starting out, I'd get a Q series (in fact I did, my son has it now) - unless you know you need more area than that. I'm going to do an outdoor kitchen around a Weber Summit at Forever House.

If a Q is too low rent for you - if you're not going to move it much, I'd go with Genesis. If you think you might be hauling it around time to time, get a Spirit (but Q is a great grill for the money - the "gateway" Weber ).

On my second Weber gas. I have a Genesis three burner with porcelain cooktop. I use it all the time.

It's about 9 years old and the burner crossover tube is rusting out. I need to call and get them to send free replacement burners before 10 year warranty runs out.

Get the Genesis and enjoy!

There was a thread on Spirits a few weeks ago, I think on the Food and Drink Board. Several comments from owners on pros and cons of 2 and 3 burner models, and comparison to Genesis. You might try to search out that one.
