I can only remember one other year where we had prolonged temps in the 30s.. and snow in shreveport(flurries right now) the week of opening day. Too early, too warm can't be excuse this weekend.

I dont think too early, too warm will be the excuse. I think it will be more like too much water. Too much water, too much food from here all the way up north.

"Too many heated ponds"
"Too much flooded corn"
"Too much water"
"Too many Duck Commanders"
"This steel doesnt kill like the good stuff"
"Those damn mud boats..."
"This rice didnt produce like it did last year"

Shall I keep going?

Should have just left it at this. I mean, that's the only problem, isn't it? That's what I've been told.

Just about everyone in PI did well for our opener. No excuses here. I can tell you this: As of yesterday, there were very few new birds down.

Tons of flooded crop they couldn’t harvest in Iowa and South Dakota.

Going to be a while before a big push

Well for the mud bat chasers, this early weather pattern could not be any better - cold and wet....flooded crops don't matter to them!

there's a little of this close to my blind, and plenty of water for a change.
Putting out decoys tomorrow. Can't wait.

Didn't have a good weekend last week in the west and it was cold. Action shut down at 7 both mornings. Buddy hunted blind today with only 4 gwt with same results on action.

I hope it changes as our other spot opens in the east this weekend.

Been hearing reports of NELA being loaded with ducks. Can't wait to break loose from work this weekend and sling some lead. I mean steel

No water in my pond on the coast opening weekend. I couldn’t hunt. N wind at 30mph for 24hrs and 1.3ft tide range and I was done.

Just about everybody has birds in NE LA. I don't think I have heard one public spot that isn't covered and all of the private stuff is also covered. Good thing is that all the birds should stick around after the initial beatdown this weekend since the birds can actually find water to escape that doesn't have decoys floating in it.
