It's a draw system, unless you buy a leftover tag. I think those are available starting in July, but options are pretty limited depending on what you are looking for.
You can buy a preference point from now until 10/31. I think for pronghorn it's $31.
Wyoming has a great hunt planner with draw odds, success rates, and information on public/private percent in each unit. Do your research, especially if you plan to hunt public. Some units are the "checkerboard" public/private, so public access is limited unless you can pay a trespass fee to a landowner.
I've been looking at going for a few years now, just haven't been able to.

That’s good info. It’s basically like this- if I could find someone who knows the deal- go once- basically learn what to do. And, really, that’s the only way. Either try yourself and waste the first year learning the ropes, or go with others.
Money is not an issue, just don’t want to pay an outfitter 8,000 or some crap to find I could do it myself

There's really no "learning the ropes" involved. There are antelope everywhere and if you're rifle hunting you pretty much drive roads until you see what you want to shoot and then stalk into shooting range. The issue is getting drawn without any preference points. As was mentioned earlier, it's a draw system and to get drawn in a good unit you need a few preference points. A "good unit" in Wyoming isn't one that has a lot of antelope, because they pretty much all do. Instead, it's a unit with good access to public land. There are plenty of units that you can draw with 0 preference points or even buy a leftover tag, but they are going to have extremely limited access to the public land.
You still have time to buy a preference point for 2019 so you'll enter the 2020 draw with 1 point. Most good units will need 5 or so points with trophy units needing 10+. Your options for next year are either go to a unit without much public land access or go with an outfitter. The Wyoming Game & Fish website has a ton of information to get you lined out. Just be aware that if you're looking at a map in a unit that's easy to get a tag and it shows a road going through public land that there's a very good chance that road isn't actually a public road.

Wow, well guess I should have started years ago.. great info. I will buy the point right away and check on an outfitter for next year.

Both responses are spot on. The best thing people can do is to go ahead and start playing the points game in multiple states. Sadly the point creep is real in every state that has a point system these days.

I went last year to learn and daughter shot an average one. Went this year, got lucky and shot an 81 inch one. Took 8 years worth of points for this years hunt though. Like others have said buy a point before end of month. I’m out of town right now but if you want to talk I will share what I know.

There are no antelope in Wyoming. Pronghorn are not Antelope or even in the same family but are often identified as such. They are the second fastest land animal.

Dude, really? Everyone calls them antelope. Even Wyoming Game and Fish calls them antelope.

We are planning on going next year. Have it narrowed down to a few units. Bought a pp this year. We are going to put in for a unit we know we won't draw so we don't waste our pp and then hopefully draw something for our 2nd or 3rd choice. I killed my first one last year in south Dakota and I'm hooked now.

Go out there every year. Just got back yesterday. There is a place called Lusk, Wyoming and there is a processing place right on Main Street. I am sure you can google the information and find it as most towns out there are less than 500 people. Good luck.

I’m definitely getting the points going. May get an outfitter so I can go next year.

I am in Sundance right now and harvested a nice buck this morning. I have been submitting for a tag every year for the last 6 years and never failed to get drawn yet, it could happen next year.
1st thing you do is determine which area you want to hunt and there are a bunch of them.
2nd is to submit your money or apply for your tag, if not drawn the state will keep $14 or $16 and return the rest.
3rd is go enjoy your hunt.

We are in unit 4, I know a couple of ranchers here that offer guide service if interested.

I'll get them tonight, I'm cooking jambalaya for a bunch of them tonight.

Sounds good. Wouldn't mind a back up plan.
