i have been eying a walther q5

and just read about there 30 day try it guarantee. no risk. i haven't been able to find one locally but this gun is available online.

am i overlooking something here? is walther that confident in their guns? has anyone shot this model?

i think it is a beautiful looking gun. maybe not as good asthetically looking as the kimber rapide, but holds more shots, 3 magazines are included, can be purchased now (no telling when for kimber) and costs less than kimber.

Walther makes great guns. Would take a Q5 over a kimber 1911 any day. Even in the 1911 world, kimber's really aren't that great. You can buy a Dan Wesson for the same price as most kimbers.

The steel frame model is @$1.5K. The standard one retails for $800.

If you live in the BR area Spillway Sportsman in Port Allen has one in stock. Unless it got sold this weekend.

ETA: I posted from my phone earlier so I didn't see your location.

I was talking guns with a someone this weekend and he mentioned that he liked Kimbers. I told him to try out a Dan Wesson.

I went to the outdoor range in Plaquemine last week and one of the range officers told me that they pass up Spillway Sportsman and head to BR for ammo and guns due to SS prices are high as giraffe .....

No experience myself. I suspect they can take advantage of those that don’t want to cross the river.

Probably what happens when one is a stand-alone, local store rather than some national chain.

I can say they definitely don't have cheap ammo currently.

I have bought many firearms from Spillway and their firearm prices are very fair. I have to call BS on what the range officer said. I wonder how long it has been since he walked into Spillway.

Right now when they have ammo in stock 9mm ammo has been $14-$16 per 50 rd box. I don't think those prices are bad especially considering the times right now. I don't buy range ammo over the counter so admittedly I don't pay extremely close attention to range ammo prices.

ETA: did the range officer happen to mention which BR gun store he heads to?

Walther makes excellent guns, no question. Their triggers are great out of the box and they are easily better than most of the names you probably know better (lookin' at you, M&P Shield). You can't go wrong and the Q5 is a nice gun. Are you looking at the polymer or steel frame variant?

Fun fact: The Q5 was Cable's gun in Deadpool 2.

steel frame is what i would like to have. i've been watching several yt videos and i'm not sure if all the guys i have watched are paid buy walther but they all seem to love the gun.

I've watched a bunch of those as well as I had been considering buying one myself, but truth is, they all just really like it.

it certainly seems that way. plus with the 30 day try it guarantee i don't think i have anything to "lose" so to speak. i think that is a pretty strong offer they are doing.

Check out the CZ SP01. All steel and lots of aftermarket upgrades for around $800. Cajun Gun Works in north Louisiana does a lot of aftermarket work on them and can trip it out as far as you want to.
