Anyone try this? Heading to Matagorda this weekend to do a little wade fishing. I have neopreme duck waders but I can stop at an academy on the way to get the waders with booties.

Especially if it’s cold I think I would rather neoprene waders.

In terms of keeping you dry they will work...until you slip on a rock. Just move nice and slow to limit slipping.

I've done plenty of bass fishing in uninsulated boot foot waders with no issue. Just have to know your terrain.

Just don't fall and fill them up. Could drown you quick. I knew a fellow that did.

Myff, make sure to wear jacket outside of waders and belt over jacket.
What guide are you using?

Going with Lee Warmke of half breed guide service and he said the ones with the laces may come in handy because of the mud. We might stop at an academy on the way to grab a pair but we only have duck waders as of now.
We will be staying at the redfish farms at the point where turtle bay meets matagorda if anyone wants to meet up for a beer.
Thanks for the help, guys.

Spring wade fishing is my favorite. I always wear neoprene hunting waders in early spring. As the water warms up, I'll switch to my fishing breathables. No reason to not wear what you already have in February/March.

This happen way back in the 1970's. Found my buddy two days later. Not a myth a-hole.
