*UPDATE in OP* Rock Island Ultra FS 10mm for $516 shipped!

I have this exact model in 9mm. Great guns! Thinking about adding its big brother to the stable!

Edit to add: Not thinking about it anymore... Just ordered it!

* UPDATE * UPDATE * UPDATE *

Received the 10mm today. Couldn't be happier to have a matching set in 9 & 10mm. Can't wait to get to the range!

In case you're wondering, 10mm rounds won't squeeze into a 9mm mag. However all of my Colt 10mm and 45 mags hold and cycle 10mm fine. My couple of aftermarket 45 mags cycle the 10mm fine as well.

5x's average trigger pull weight =

Compared to my 2yr old 9mm with about 4k rounds thru it:

As stated, I've had the 9mm in this exact model for about 2 years now. It's never given me an issue mechanically nor does the fit and finish show any signs of issues. It chews through any ammo I've put thru it, steel or brass-case.

I'd highly recommend it.

interesting price. for a decent 1911, $500 is about as cheap as it gets. I quickly found one available in the $550 range on gunbroker, maybe have to add shipping cost to that though.

the models with the rail seems to go usually in the $600+ish range.

There's a gunsmith (his screen name is Hoggin) on the Specialty Pistols website who rec's the RIA as a basis for custom 1911's because they're good quality and less expensive than most other 1911's.

Here are some RIA specific forums w/ lots of happy RIA owners:
1911 RIA Forum
1911.org Armscor Forum

There are 3 different companies in The Philippines that make 1911's: SAM (American Tactical), Metro Arms (Metro Arms and American Classic) and Armscor (Citadel and RIA). Although I don't have an RIA, I've got a Citadel Compact (3 1/2" barrel) 1911. I bought the Citadel instead of the RIA because of various enhancements the Citadel had (extended thumb safety, target hammer/trigger, Novak type sights, beavertail grip safety, etc.). I believe RIA now makes a model w/ similar enhancements. At any rate, I like my gun. It's been 100%. The only thing I'd change is the finish. It was advertised as a "matte black" finish, but it's actually a Parkerized finish. At the time I bought it, I knew it was not a blue finish, but hoped the finish would grow on me, but it hasn't. I might paint the frame some day. From my experience, I can recommend the gun. I also have an American Classic Commander. It has the same upgrades as the RIA but the finish is a pretty blue and the sights are 3 dot. I've been very pleased w/ my AC Commander, as well. From my experience, I can also recommend American Classic/Metro Arms.

Pretty damned good, Armscor has been making 1911's for a long time. RIA and STI use them among several others.

I have an ATI 4.25" and its a great gun. Slide fits tight, no rattles and it goes bang every time I pull the trigger. Cant be beat for the money.

I own several firearms, but have never bought one off of the internet before. How would I go about getting this one shipped to my local Academy or other gun shop? Thanks in advance!

ETA: I’m located in the Jackson MS area if any of y’all can give me any guidance.

You can ship it to any FFL dealer. Most websites have a list of them in your area. A place like Van's in Brandon would likely take the shipment, run your background and transfer the gun for like $20

Don't do it with Academy, Bass Pro, etc

Try this to look up FFL's

Look up FFL transfer locations. Usually a pawn shop will do the paper transfer for $20-30.

Try this website to find an FFL Dealer. Find an FFL and FFL Dealer Locator.

As you go thru the checkout process it asks you to put in a zip and it'll give you a list of local gunshops. I'd recommend calling a few first to ask for their FFL Transfer fee, if you don't already have one you use. Then complete the process when you checkout online.

After checking out with this particular website(not all them do this) you will get a confirmation page telling you what to do next. Which is to contact the place you're transferring the gun to and have them send their FFL info to a fax number or email address that's provided in the confirmation.

That's pretty much it. Once the gun is received by the FFL, they should contact you and you just go in, do the background check, pay your transfer fee and walk out with your new gun.

This is in no way meant to come off as being smart arse but when I read this I immediately thought yea, Remington has been making 870’s for a long time but the quality of the new guns is not the same as the old ones. Same holds true for the Winchester lever guns like the model 94. Winchester made those guns for a long time and the later models were not the same as the earlier ones.

Having said that the Rock Island’s I have seen seemed to be good quality.

Just got a Glock 20 10mm this week and had a chance to shoot it today.

That’s a nice looking handgun and a good price.

The big "but" here is that Armscor has continuously invested in improving quality, unlike Remington and Winchester who have become nothing more than brands hawked under parent companies focused more on their bottom lines.
