What is some advise you can share with someone who is getting back into turkey hunting after not going for 30 years? I can work a mouth call and a box call, never used a slate call.

Call soft, make sure your gun is patterned, after your last call sit at least 30 minutes. My favorite time to hunt is 10-1. I've killed more turkeys between that time than any other. Look for scratchings and dust bowls. The turkeys by us also like the clover fields. Gas lines work the best for me especially mid day.

More important to be where he wants to go than a championship caller. Fighting purrs have worked great for me when he’s hung up with hens. That old boss hen can’t stand it and she’ll bring the whole crew if you can get her to commit

It’s very easy. All you have to do is be where that turkey wants to be and you will kill it every single time

The only hard part is figuring where that is

Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part, Less = More when it comes to calling

My number #1 turkey killing trick is find you some private land with turkeys nobody hunts, watch the birds for a day or two, then go sit where they go and shoot them. Lol. I'm not even BSing, come spring time turkeys are can be pretty patternable most days. The best thing is not to force them and be patient...

Public land has me worn out the last couple of years. I still love to go and there's nothing better then a hunt that works out. But frick its hard to kill a turkey on crappy public land.

"Find where they roost."
"Show up 2 hours before daylight."
"Shoot off limb."

I haven't shot a turkey from a limb since 1992.

That's a lie. Haven't shot one from his roost since 1992. In 2008 or so I had one that flew to me at 10am and lit in a tree 15 yards away. He gone.
