trapping on public land (WMA)

is this legal? Came across a bunch of coil spring traps while duck hunting. They were unattended, assuming for nutria or raccoons? This was on Biloxi WMA. Almost broke my foot.

It is legal. Not sure on specific regulations, but I believe they have to be labeled with the trapper's information, and I know they have to be run daily (stated in the hunting regulations pamphlet).

license, and all traps tagged with info and teapper license #, etc. Traps checked in timely manner

Back in the late 70's I was a techster. Me and a buddy trapped around in lincoln parish and sold fur to ouchita trading in Monroe It was fun going to that place and seeing all the furs. We caught mostly coon few rabbits and few possums Back then fur was still worth something we ahd 12 to 20 traps and made some serious drinking money for a few years.
