was intended as a TRIBUTE to those that suffered during the trail of tears
Did not know (thanks for the info) but still the "optics" aren't good

Perhaps it's just an acknowledgement of a noteworthy event rather than a celebration. Commemorative. I'm not a big believer in erasing history as long as it's framed properly.

Me either and I only want the story told as facts, not feels.

This rifle came out about the same time as Blazing Saddles. Neither of which could be released today.

I don't think that rifle had been invented yet, when the Trail Of Tears happened.
The White Men and Natives were still toting muskets in the 1830s.
If The British could have put repeating rifles in the hands of The Creeks, The U.S. map would probably look a lot different now. Andrew Jackson and Davy Crockett wouldn't be household names, and Johnny Horton would never have been singing about any Battle of New Orleans.

Hey, white man kicked arse and that rifle helped. History was done
You only have a vague understanding of history, don't you?
The Cherokee Trail of Tears was from 1836 - 1839. As a whole the Trail of Tears events occurred from 1831-1850. The Winchester Repeating Arms Company was founded and produced it's first Rifle in 1866. The rifle pictured is a 9422, introduced in 1972.

And if any of you baws are interested, the Winchester 9422 and 9422magnum are the finest lever action 22 rifles ever made. I have several and the special additions like the one discussed here can bring large money. If you see one in great condition for eight hundred or less and want one then don’t hesitate.

I hate PC stuff, but this has to be one of the sorriest things ever. Why even commemorate death like this. They can burn those rifles for all I care.
