Tipping a bass fishing guide

Just curious what the norm is for this. He will not be cleaning any fish. Just an 8 hour guide with Jason Courville on Toledo. Thanks for the input.

Give what you're comfortable giving. If that's nothing or $1000, so be it. At the end of the day you paid for his time already so as a man, he shouldn't expect anything more and be grateful for anything on top.

Never been on a freshwater charter but don’t know why it’d be any different. I treat it the same as a restaurant 15-20% of the cost of the charter unless it was a terrible trip/guide was a dick.

50-100 bucks depending on the effort

I tip my guy on Toledo $100. He charges $400/trip.

I always expect to get 20% minimum. If I don’t get that, you won’t be going fishing with me again.

I always tip, but this has become one of the most confusing things for me. Do you tip because the service was great? Shouldn’t that be built in to the price?
I can’t imagine that I’d skip over a great guide because his price was $500 instead of $400 if I didn’t have to worry about how much I’d have to give him after.

If the guide owns the business, why tip?
I get tipping an employee.

You are pathetic
You should tip them 20% or give em some nice noise cancelling headphones

Tipping is way outta control; everyone thinks they deserve....I mean entitled to "more".
Why not tip me for reading this?

If he works as hard as he can and does the best to his ability to get you on some fish, then tip him. Reward quality work.
The last bass guided trip I took was with Harold Allen on Toledo Bend. My brother and I split the trip and tipped him $100. It was worth it. We had a great trip.
That was a few years ago.

You are, by far, the worst poster on the OB. And that includes DP’s bullshite this morning.
Why would you not build that into your upfront price? Especially if you are running the boat without a deck hand.

I quit responding to this a-hole about a year ago. He promised that he wouldn't be back not to long ago, but he keeps popping back up, like herpes.

Catching trip or are y'all doing an electronics class with him?

There is no norm, tip what feels right to you. I have received anywhere from $20-$250 on an 8 hour trip. Typically, it’s $100 but I am not bothered by. Have been stiffed on good trips and it boggles my mind but that’s the way it goes.

This guy knows his stuff, ask him to give you pointers on graphing. He Will
Then give him $100 tip
I'd be surprised if you go with him this time of year and don't catch 30- 40 bass

I get trolling on the internet but damn, you have to be a little bit more subtle than this.

I'm betting the only guide he can post is a map to his mom's basement where he lives and trolls the internet all day.
