This Everglades cottonmouth is the biggest I've ever seen.

Interesting YouTube video. Head on that thing looks almost as big as his hand. Makes me wonder if a cottonmouth could kill a gator or a python? I realize the guy is a pro, but he's still nuts, imho. LINK

The guy who is really nuts is the camera guy. I realize he is using his zoom to get the close shots but that camera has got to hinder his ability to move quickly.

That's a huge arse snake!

Wouldn't have even stopped, but my steering may have changed a bit.

It's forced perspective. Again. It's a big cottonmouth, but not particularly unusual. Four feet max. Also, I hate that guy. His videos are all sensational crap to get clicks.

I don't like forced perspective, either, Teague, but still, that thing is BIG. I've never seen a cottonmouth live and in person, so it is unusual to me and my fellow hillbillies. Just how big DO they get???

I damn near stepped on one last night just before dark walking with the dogs. I caught some movement a couple of feet from me and looked down at a decent sized moccasin coiled up and opening up to show me his cotton mouth. Looked like he was hanging around a pond feasting on frogs for dinner

Crawfishing with my cousin back in the day when there was no Judge Perez Dr. in Chalmette, just swamps and woods back where Buccaneer Villa North was built.

I was walking down a bank to get to the water to check on some nets we had put out and saw what I thought was a motorcycle tire in the weeds on side of the steep bank. Thinking I'd use the tire to steady my feet, I planted a foot firmly atop it----------and it moved,,,fast. That is when I realized it was a moccasin and it scared the crap out of me. I saw it hit the water and take swim off.

Short day crawfishing.

Not afraid of snakes, but I do have a healthy respect for them, especially toxic ones.

That was one huge moccasin in that link.

Looks that way. The guy was claiming it had a girth or circumference of "at least 6 inches". If that were true, that would mean a body diameter of ~2 inches. A 2 inch wide snake isn't going to make a snake guy stop on the road to film it. That snake LOOKS to be at least 3 inches wide so the girth would be over 9 inches.

I got bit by a cotton mouth that was close to 3 feet long. It really sucked.
