I’m looking at purchasing a thermal scope but not looking to break the bank on it.
I’ve been looking at ATN, specifically the model linked below. It’s an ATN ThOR 4.
Does anyone own one of these or maybe used one? I’ll be using it to hog hunt and max distance will be maybe 100 yards with most being in the 40-70 yard range.
Any advise or recommendations would be appreciated.

For the money its a good option. You can shoot out to 300 yds easy. Great products and customer service is awesome.

In my research decent thermal and cheap don’t go hand in hand. The ATN products seem to suffer from software related issues. No first hand experience but I have also been on the hunt for a thermal and or night vision. I have been able to mess with a pulsar xp50 and it was damn nice but also $$.

LW, were you able to find any deals or a good place to buy it?

Listen my friend. I know thermal is king, but for what you are doing and the budget you describe you need to try digital night vision first. Go to Academy and buy the Sightmark Photon scope, it will be less than $500. Mount it and use it first to see if it works for you. I have this exact setup on my 6.5 grendel AR and it is a hog slaying monster. With the onboard IR I can see out to 150 yards or so. Hogs care absolutely nothing about the IR, I usually walk up to 30 yards or so while they are rooting in fields and start cutting them down. The one caveat is thick woods, IR will wash out in woods so if you are hunting in dense woods then suck it up and go thermal.

If you don’t like it and still want thermal you can easily sell it and go that direction, but man don’t drop 4x-10x as much money when you don’t have to...

Exactly what Carson said. Or try and go on snipershide or facebook groups to find a good deal on a used one.

Picked up a Pulsar Trail XQ38 LRF a few weeks again and man is this thing sweet.

Thanks for the responses guys. Good info.
I’ll look into a few other options suggested.

I just ordered a sightmark wraith digital nv scope partly because I am a cheap bastard but also because it looks to work damn well for shooting in the 200 and less yard range. Check out the online videos. I just need something to kill hogs at night 70 yds away from a box stand

Their consumer hunting sales division is no more. Marine, security, and all the other consumer divisions still exist.

Think of it more of a consolidation.

They bought armasight in like 2016ish. They are using flir cores and processors in those units that say “armasight by flir”.

The FLIR consumer division was its own separate entity and was draining money. If you’ve already got the infrastructure built in a company that you own, why duplicate resources? Honestly I’m surprised it took them this long to do it.

The still supply cores to a bunch of thermal “manufacturers”.

Yea I own the Thor 4 2x-8. it gets the job done and is nice. I have really enjoyed it. zero issues. have donw 2 software updates that took all of 10 minutes total. nothing to it and if you feel uncomfortable you can call like I did the first time and they walked me thru it. Wasn't necessary either time I just wanted to stay current and had received an email that a new patch was available.

Southerntiger83, Not really. I know the price goes up big time with magnification. 3-8 is plenty for what I need. I can pick things out and 400-500 yards. Can identify 200 and in. I'm not going to be making 500 yards at night. I'm just looking to shoot pigs within a couple hundred yards and in.
