Well this mornings hunt was packed with a bunch of "Firsts"

-First time I ever heard a snort wheeze from a buck (about 50 yds away). Sounded EXACTLY like every snort /wheeze call I ever heard

-First time I ever called in a buck with a bleat can

-First time I ever called in a P@Y class buck with a bleat can

-First time I ever attempted a head on shot at any deer, much less a P@Y

-First time I zipped it just under a P@Y head-on at 7 yds because my dumbarse forgot to hold my 45 yd pin on his heart instead of the twenty I had on him when I triggered the arrow. (You would have thought 10 yrs of competitive 3-D archery w/ 3 state titles would have triggered the old memory cells....but nooooooooooooooo)

-First time I held low on a 38 yd shot on the same P@Y thinking he would jump string since he was on edge.

_First time I missed a P@Y at 38 yds because I held low (on the heart) and he never moved as the arrow sailed 1/2 under his chest ( and he was 42, not 38 yds)

- First time I ever had a doe blow at me because she was mad at me (I killed her young 8 pt loverboy in retribution for missing the P@Y)

- First time I field dressed a deer alone in under 3 mins

- God I love bowhunting

BTW, The buck in question has since been appropriately named "Neo" in paying homage to his arrow avoiding abilities.

No pics. Small racked 2 1/2 yr old cull 8 point.

However I will once again go on record as saying that 3-blade Grim Reapers are definitely the shiznick. Buck No 2 went down within 30 yards of the hit and left this world within 30 secs of the arrow hit.

Stevie Wonder could have followed the blood trail....devastating.

No fancy packaging, no high dollar tv ads, but you are correct, the reapers are an absolutely awesome broadhead.

Congrats on the good hunt. But a head shot is not a good shot with any type of weapon.

Just because you were mad from missing a big deer, you don't have to call it a cull. It was a young deer.

Full disclosure, I've blasted young deer out of spite after missing out on a big deer too, but I admit it.

That would imply that you ever missed, and I can't/don't/won't believe that.

I'm not sure that's a thing. Some deer take longer than others for the antlers to grow. I'd advise not killing them at 2-1/2 if you are managing for P&Y deer.

Congrats on the kill though, any bow kill is a challenge. It's so nice to watch them fall.

Any buck you cull is a cull buck!

Funny...I don't remember saying anything about a head shot. I was referring to a frontal shot, at an extreme angle, with the buck looking at the bottom of my climber (Which was at 25 ft FYI)
Tough shot, but I'm fully capable of making it, when I remember to use the correct pin for that scenario.

Misread it. Sorry. A head on shot is equally horrible for a bow though

I'm capable of frickin a random bar fly tonight, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Y'all boys and your 5, 10, 20, 30, 40,46, 50,58, and 60 yd pins are messing up from the get-go. You are creating more obstacles than necessary. Have 2-3 pins, shoot your bow often enough to really become proficient, so when big boy (still no description of your "P&Y") walks in you don't have to think about distances and pins.

I have a pin for 45
Right above that, I have a pin for 20-40.

That's all I need to hunt white tail. Only ever used the top pin to kill.
