Guy I know works for a government contractor doing some kind of work on radar equipment. They lost the contract on a project and the company threw away all these shipping containers. They had them in a dumpster and he loaded up about 40 of them. They are built similar to a Pelican case with 7 latches and wheels on the bottom also have pressure relief valves. No telling what the government payed for them. They measure 33”x24”x 19” deep with foam inserts.

Going to be great for storing some camera equipment in.

That is a 600mm lens to give you an idea of just how big these things are.

Nice find. More importantly, is that a 600mm f/4L?

Yes. The f/4 L IS II is a very good lens. Even handheld at distance it is pretty sharp.

I worked for a large company that would throw away perfectly good stuff, like rent multiple roll offs. We had to put everything in the dumpster but nobody cared if we went and got it later, we would just stack the cleanest dumpsters with the stuff we wanted, the doors open easy, and go get it after the day was done. They could have saved money on the dumpsters and made money selling stuff, but they made billions of $$$$, guess they knew better. I guarantee the founder didn't waste like that.

Go to any garage sale in most any upper middle class suburb neighborhood across the South and you'll find shite for $25 that will make your head spin.

Especially go in big military Towns like San Antonio where there are a lot of officers. They are constantly "de-junking" because they could move at any moment.

Damn. At 75/apiece that's a steal of a buy. Sucks I missed out on that. That would have made a damn good ham radio go-kit box.

Nice find.

“Pretty” sharp? That lens is incredible.I’ve rented one. If it weren’t so big and wieldy I probably would’ve bought one by now haha. I just sold my 100-400 f/4.5 ii. Also a solid lens, but not like the 600mm.

They work really nice on a Wimberley gimbal head. It is tough to crawl through the brush with to set up on some ducks though.
