The official flying insect of Hell.......the wasp

Has anyone found the way to completely eliminate these demonic creatures?
I've been fighting these beasts for months now. At one time they built nests in the open (for the most part) and were easy to spot and kill. Now for some reason every place they choose to build their nests is secluded and you don't know its there until it's too late.

according to the googles. some humans in certain parts of the world (Japan) are willing to take on wasps to get to their delicious larvae as are bats. I suggest buying a batmobile and buying several cases of Sapporo. Go down to your local sushi/hibachi joint and let them know you will trade beer for wasps.

Are they stinging you?
I am no fan of wasps and take pleasure in eradicating them, but I worry less about them now than I used to.
Living in the country, we get a ton of wasps if I slack off in looking for the nests, but over the years i’ve mellowed on them a bit.
Maybe I’ve become naive and they’re going to maul me next time I cut the grass.

Also, the Spectracide Pro in the white can is the best thing I’ve found for killing a nest.
I found three good-sized nests under the eaves of my portable building the other day. Sprayed each of them with multiple wasps on the nest and those suckers never even moved. Just died in place.

Same. I have kids that freak out about them. I'm trying to teach them the "be cool" method. Basically, if your not swinging your hat at them and flailing your arms about, they will not bother you. If they build in a heavily trafficked area, and it's a recurring problem, then they must be eliminated.

My wife and I both.
They have built in the mirrors on my truck (I have a car that I use for work commute and have worked 46 of the last 48 days, so using the truck). Pretty sure also built in the hollow of my truck bed. Built in the tongue of my boat trailer and I have tried to kill those, but the openings are very small. I'll be unloading a couple cans in there tonight as I plan to use my boat Thursday/Friday.

I did none of this yesterday when I was stung. Had no idea until it had happened. I really tired of fighting these things.

My friend that is in pest control came spray because I was having similar issues. I won’t say they’re completely gone but it has seriously reduced the amount I see, of all bugs for that matter. Can’t remember what he used either, sorry.
I’ve had bad luck with Spectracide wasp sprays. Bengal in the green can has worked the best for me. For those whom may not know, Dawn in a cup with a little water will take them down too. Just make sure it’s foamy before tossing it on the nest.

I just ignore them unless they have a nest in some place that's in my way. For those, I douse them with a cup of water and dish detergent.

I can attest to the Dawn method. If you have a liquid fertilizer spreader that connects to your hose, fill it half way with Dawn and blast away. Have taken down nests of 20-30 without one making it more than a foot or so from the nest. Works great when the best is in a shrub or ornamental tree because the canned chemical spray usually kills a ton of leaves on the plant.

I once sprayed a rather large nest and I saw something peculiar happen. I took a close look at the nest (after the wasps were dead) and noticed the larvae were crawling around! The larva had come out of their nest hole and were reacting to the poison and it looked like a mummy doing the worm dance, no kidding. This larva was pretty big, I'm sure they were about to hatch any day.
It was creepy yet satisfying at the same time.

Dawn dish soap and water. Kills them and doesn’t leave that pesticide all over for you and your family to breath in. Of course you better be quick baw!

Just yesterday I climbed up on my roof to remove some leaves/pine needles caught between the roof and patio cover. Glad I didn’t fall off the roof when they started barreling out at me. Scurried up to the top and had to wait em out.

The stuff will run every bug out of your property when applied properly for 6 months at a time. Wasps won't even attempt to build nests anywhere around this stuff.

I think I don’t know how to apply it properly with a pump sprayer. Is that what you use? How much do you mix in per gallon of water?

I use Dr Bronners Castile soap and water in a spray bottle. Castile soap is made with oils and I find it works a little faster than dawn.
As far as prevention goes, I agree with Suspend SC.

I got stung 3 weeks ago because they built a nest in the tongue on the trailer. Was putting it on truck and got popped.
