Teal Migration dependent on the full moon?

Hunted down in Dularge this weekend for the opener, and didn’t see too many birds. Shot the one bird that came in the decoys, but it sure was great being back in the blind. Not many people around us shot too any. Wasn’t expecting much, was actually pretty pumped to even kill one in the 90 degree weather. Had big flocks of mottled ducks flying around. First time I have seen Mottleds group up in flocks of 10 and 15 before. Pretty cool sight. I’ve heard mixed reports from southwest Louisiana. Some killed and others didn’t. Hope more birds come down and everyone is able to get on them at least for a little while.
My question for you guys is about a conversation I had with an old man who is a crabber today down in Houma. We were talking about the teal in Dularge over the years and he swore up and down that the full blue wing migration revolves solely around the full moon in September. He claimed fronts don’t have anything to do with it, and I could see that because we hardly have fronts this time of year. Looks like the full moon is around middle of next week. A little late but better than never I guess. I had never heard that before. Just wondering if you guys have ever heard this before or if he was just blowing smoke.

I hope that’s true. It would be great to get a big bump in numbers before the weekend.

I believe this is true. We’ve done well so far but we’ve killed a lot of females and juveniles. I doubt we have more show up becuase these are normally the last to come Down. I’m hoping they stick around because it’s been fun.

Fished Reggio/Delacroix from kayak today. Saw a few big ducks, saw 5 total teal flying. 2 doubles 1 single. Heard maybe 15 shots, including 2 volleys where everyone in the blind obviously shot at one bird.

Teal migrate once the amount of light during the day begins to shorten. All ducks do, but teal due it earlier. That may correspond to the full moon somehow in September.

There were a few birds at Catahoula, not as many as normal. This is the first year I can remember that we have had zero cool fronts before teal season. 97 degrees Saturday is insane in mid-September!

Hunted in Raceland both days. Saw 4 teal Saturday and didn't shoot a shot. Saw 9 on Sunday killed 8. Very little birds in our area right now.
