The last time I wired a 220 line for a hottub into my main panel I walked inside and handed the wife a 3' 2x4 and told her "come stand out here and what ever you don't touch me with anything but this board"

Frick that shite. I dont mess with that. Family friend is an excellent electrician and I give him lots of practice.

I am handy around engines and vehicles though. Nothing too technical but I can keep shite running.

Electricity is one of the few things I refuse to mess with, it can kill me and I can't see it.

As far as other handy shite. I like to think I'm halfass proficient.

Well my problem is that I try my damnest to avoid it and I still find it biting my arse from time to time. I cannot imagine what would happen if I went looking for it.

In retrospect I won't be doing that again. I was equally stupid and afraid that day.

240 AC bites a lil bit, 120's not too bad. Anything over 28 DC hurts.

I love/hate knowing electrical.
I do my own work, and everyone I know calls for me to do theirs.

(The bad list, in case that's ambiguous.)

understatement: I cut a line on a stove top that was hard wired once and blew myself across a kitchen floor and totally f'ed up my linesmen.

Damn lucky I didn't blow the entire house to kingdom come as we were putting in formica and the glue fumes were thick at the time.

Stinking "main panel" was off but there had been a remodel years previous and there was more than one panel.

I'd like to pucnh the man that wired my house.
Instead of breaking the HOT with a switch for a fan, they broke a NEUTRAL. Common all over my house.
It's also a nightmare trying to turn off the correct breaker in my panel, as only half is labeled, and half of that is incorrect.
