Sure wish deer season could shift a month
The rut doesn’t hit my area (pike county Mississippi) till the last week or two of the season or later. Killed a decent little 8 yesterday chasing and it’s the first buck we’ve seen chasing this year.

Got does in September with newborns so they aren’t being bred till February!

Would love a 15-30 day shift in the season.

Yep where we are in Alabama too. Bow season should start the first week of November and gun season should be done last day of February

I've said this exact thing as well. Hell it's to hot to bow hunt in October most days lol. 2nd rut hits 1-2 weeks into February in my area. I'd like to see a shift as well or at least extended in areas with later ruts. Some areas don't even rut till February. All these transplant deer make the rut all over the place.

Agreed.

Only thing I like is having it done by baseball.

I agree with you. Where I hunt in Avoyelles parish it’s late as crap too. Dmap has a tier one program we’re on where we can rifle hunt during bow season at the end but the rut still continues outside of season. The run into March sometimes. Spoke with a game warden a while back about them pushing the season back and he laughed.

We don't know if the rut was like 3 days long this year or hasn't happened yet. No one saw shite this year.

I would thoroughly enjoy that, especially this year. I’m coaching my oldest son’s basketball team with games each Saturday from the middle of November through the first weekend of February. While it has been enjoyable seeing the kids develop, I also want to get him in the woods with me. Another month would be glorious right now!

Bow season in Alabama needs to start around middle of November then gun season would go to middle of February

Actually needs to be shorter in total duration. No reason at all to be able to hunt them for basically 4 solid months. Bow season in mid September for two weeks max. Have 9 days of primitive/bow. Have a few gun/bow seasons broken down into three splits. No more than 9 days each. You can move those around to suit your rut if necessary. Drop the limit to 4 with max 2 bucks. One in parishes or areas that population is lower.

Back in my day we didn't have to wait on a rut or buck to come to feeder or plot. Much less worry about them going nocturnal. Bring back dog hunting and problem solved.

Yea that's a huge NO on dogs. We have seen the upside of not running them does, and we don't wanna go back.

Bow season nov 1, rifle season dec 1-end of feb. Hot as piss and skeeters in oct, and when deer season over deer movement best
